Been using this for years, but since very recently it has stopped working for me.
Not work
trash. didn't work the first time using it.
I'd used this extension on Chrome and Firefox without problems until recently where all of the previous functionality was rendered unusable. Please update the extension
SO SAD!!!! Not working now! Would love to see this fixed.
Please fix this, it used to work so well! The built in Google functionality only copies the link to highlight, which is where this extension is stuck currently.
In the latest version 2.4.0, this feature is not functional : Copy as rich text plus the raw URL
my chromebook, Chrome browser gives: docs.google.com says Link to Text Fragment: Couldn't create a unique link, please select a longer sequence of words. INVALID_SELECTION is there a fix?
Absolute FAIL! Does nothing at all!
Does not work. Every link created with tihs extension simply pulls up the website as normal, and does not link to the specific part of the page. Unfortuante.
It doesn't work, it just take you to the top of the page, so what's the point using it if doens't take you where you want and it can´t be highlighted (for security reasons). I hope you can take into account the comments and develop a better tool for different purposes.
Literally does not work, and since I'm not techy, I can't be bothered to find out why. Pop-up blockers, website permissions, who knows. Nice try
Does not work. Uninstalling. Too bad. This would have made my life easier. Using a MAC by the way...
Doesn't work and was frustrating
It last highlighted until you click or scroll down or up the page. Therefore it is useless, most people won't be able to see what you highlighted. It also does not work on a new visit.
not working
Not working for me.
I've never come across such a useless piece of rubbish. The "developer" should seriously consider a change of career. Might I suggest pizza delivery?
"Could not create a link. Select more words." Even though I had an entire paragraph selected. Completely useless.
Doesn't work on a lot of sites. Possibly an issue with the underlying Chrome functionality, but that's from Google too, so... (Don't tell me the problem is sites loading content asynchronously – that's what modern websites do! If you're going to create a feature like this, you have to account for that.)
not working
Created a link, but didn't actually work when I clicked on the the link. Went to the wrong part of the page.
Can this be fixed so it actually works? I want to use it on Brave browser which other Brave users said it worked at one time
some bugs exist: 1. if the selected text includes capital letters, the link will not work because it lowers the text in the returned URL For example Secenario: Go to "https://www.google.com", select the text "Google offered" and copy the link to text fragment using this extension. Expected output: https://www.google.com/#:~:text=I%27m%20Feeling%20Lucky-,Google%20offered,-in%3A%20%D7%A2%D7%91%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%AA Actual output: https://www.google.com/#:~:text=Images-,google%20offered,-in%3A%20%20%D7%A2%D7%91%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%AA%20%20%20%20%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%B1%D8%A8%D9%8A%D8%A9 --------------------------- 2 some special characters in the text fragment are not encoded (e.g. "-"), resulting in the link not working
Didn't work on Brave browser.
This works and then it doesn't. No rhyme or reason for it to work on a site once then within a few days NOT work on the same site. Make no difference on account type (EDU or Public), how much text is selected, settings in Chrome, ... Really wish it would work more than 20% of the time.
Been using this for some months over several updates to Chrome (presently on Version 93.0.4577.63 (Official Build) (64-bit) It’s great WHEN IT WORKS - 5 star in fact, however I've only given it 2 stars because, I am continually find it vanished from the Context menu. When that happens, the ONLY fix is to remove the extension from Chrome and reinstall it. Having reinstalled, it works perfectly for some indeterminate time…a day, a week a month….then fails again. Very annoying because as I say, WHEN IT WORKS it’s a great extension. I've just emailed the Dev to ask about it.
Brilliant idea, but the link only seems to work in Chrome and even in Chrome, it doesn't entirely work. When I use the link in Chrome, it takes me to the right page and section, but then it immediately scrolls back to the top of the page.
Doesn't work for me on a Mac. I give it two stars instead of one because it's a good idea.
I wish it worked for everybody just like it does on my computer. I mean, do my recipients have to have the extension installed as well to make the links work for them? I tried sharing different links with about 10 people this morning and it didn't work for any of them. What's the trick? I know it works on my computer, on Chrome and Edge. It also works on my cellphone with Chrome, but it won't work with anyone else??
Useless, the link provided works only with Chrome not with other browsers, ex Firefox. So you can't use it to share a link with someone because you don't know which browser he uses.
Hello support this extension no longer works.
i am using this since last three days all links are working fine in computer but facing problem with mobile phone. scenario 1. : i send the link to my WhatsApp and link is working on mobile. Scenario 2 : i pasted link on browser url of mobile its working. Scenario 3 : i put the same link in google form quiz, feedback for wrong answer its work in computer but does not work when i open from mobile. Scenario 4 : i copied the same link from Google form wrong answer feedback and past it on browser its work on Mobile.
The concept is great but it has some severe limitations. It does not work on sites with popups (which is fine because popups are bad UX anyway), but it also does not work with UTM codes or at all in the mobile Safari browser. The default native browser on something like 50% of the world's devices. For this to be truly useful, it at least needs to be compatible with UTMs and the mobile Safari browser. Please make it work, devs! It's really useful.
I'm confused. Isn't this the EXACT same thing that is already built-in to Chrome - "Copy link to highlight"?? 🤔
It was working earlier, but now it isn't...
I'm trying to link a student course catalog but it's tell me to select a "longer sequence of words." I've selected a lot of text but it won't detect it.
Why does this extension include a ad tracker? It inserts a string like "ezoic-pub-ad-placeholder-115" into the generated URL.
This extension is REALLY helpful, but it has a major drawback for my personal workflow. The problem is that this extension (despite the fact that it is developed by Google) isn't compatible with Google Drive. I cannot highlight any content from any PDF files that are saved into Google Drive. Due to this, I am looking towards adopting alternatives such as Dropbox. I REALLY hope that compatibility with Google Drive is possible in a near future.
This used to work great for accessing KB articles in ServiceNow. However, since recent update to how KB articles are loaded in ServiceNow this extension no longer works :(
The highlight is unstable, clicking on the extension icon does nothing. Only after watch a video instruction I found a way to use it. The functionality is needed, but the instability of the highlight makes it unusable.
Lacking many essential features
Can you tell us when it works and when it doesn't? For example, I tried it on the usage instructions and it didn't work.
The extension works fine, but the function itself is only half-baked. It highlights only the first instance of the selected text. Chrome search highlights all instances, which is the behavior I expected here. This is a little underwhelming. Regexes would be nice too, but I'd be happy with it just implementing basic search function.
Works 90% of the times; however, on PDF documents stored on GDrive, it doesn't work, which would have been a very easy way to have cross-platform bookmarks.
