Even though the extension is well thougt, it bugs and when i hit the bookmark button after rating and writing about an offer, it's half of the time simply not saving it. That needs to be fixed. Thanks
It's been crashing my Linked In while writing messages to people. Tells me it might also be reading my messages.
Teal was recommended by a UX designer who used the extension during the job search process, however the site has continously crashed to the point that I've not been able to create a login or use the extension. After several hours trying to troubleshoot, I've decided not to use the service.
The latest update has completely made this extension unusable. The app no longer autofills and if you use a different chromium base browser like arc it doesn't work at all. Once this is fixed I will update this review.
Not working on opera
Agree with the others- the new update makes this almost impossible to use- please bring back the old functionality!
Extension no longer works.
Agree with problem after new release.
I used to love this extension, but the new release has made it almost impossible to use. I used Teal because it was easier to use than a spreadsheet, and the chrome extension made it easy to add jobs to my tracker. With the new extension, it now has to be pinned to the side, squeezing my screen real-estate. It also no longer displays critical information about jobs, including salary information. I also have found it has a harder time parsing job sites or no longer imports the right information into Teal. I understand that they were trying to essentially consolidate more into the extension, but it came at the cost of the core reason that the extension was useful. The extension used to be the reason why I started using Teal. With the new changes, I think it's going to be time to find another resource as the new extension is significantly slowing me down. It's a real shame, and hopefully the developers will roll this back.
Hasn't worked for over 6 months. Just keeps telling me to log in even after I've logged in and refreshed a dozen times.
A lot of phaff for little benefit.
Data scraping from job description on LinkedIn is buggy. Seems to work only 50% of the time.
As an experienced CV writer and and CV writing trainer, the first impact with the resume builder was really underwhelming. I saved my CV, overall score 62% - suggestions stated "Please ensure that (role) at (company) has 3 - 5 active achievements" My CV for that role shows 3 quantifiable achievements bullet points right at the top - as below • Increased staff satisfaction score for L&D from 63% to 81% (February 2022 to February 2023). • 90% of staff on leadership development courses promoted to a management position. • Achieved the lowest attrition rate (10%) across four EMEA/APAC countries. And furthermore "Please ensure that there (sic) the total number of active Achievements is between 10 and 15 for all work experiences" There are 12 quantifiable (% or number) achievements through all work experiences! CV produced was pretty mediocre - skill section relegated to the bottom of page 2 and with a hodgepodge of random keywords ("comprehensive", "proven ability" - how are those skills? "Business initiative" which is nowhere on my CV. Definitely NOT going to purchase the premium version. Much better off using ChatGPT free.
waste of time
I wish it worked for autofilling job applications
Nice concept. Unfortunately, the extension makes browsing on certain sites (Temu.com) difficult to traverse because the extension makes Teal.com open in another tab whenever selecting anything on Temu.com. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, flushing the cache (Edge) and restarting Edge and restarting my computer.
Absolutely does not work in any way. Tried to upload a resume, doesn't work. Tried to edit manually, does not work. Tried to save jobs, does not work. Don't waste your time.
Worst Plugin. Keep on logging out automatically after every 5 mins. Wasted lot of my time.
Not connecting to server. Unusable.
Tons of bugs with the tool. Consistently crashes on basic functions such as filtering and attempting to click into a link. Extension also gets stuck and does not load for certain sites. At this rate, I'd be better off using a manual spreadsheet.
This only wanted to pull from linkedin, no other boards. It didn't matter how many times I changed the settings, installed/uninstalled - nothing worked. The concept is great, execution was a failure. I really had high hopes for it, too.
Worked well until it was removed from Opera GX. Please bring it back!!
No longer works on LinkedIn. Disappointing bc it was such a goated feature.
This seems like a nice product but it's not free. It costs $29 per month to do anything useful with it. This should be marketed as a free trial but you can't make use of enough keywords with the free version to see if it is worth paying for.
I bought a week to try it out. Two hours in and I realize that was 9 bucks wasted: I imported my resume as a Word document, Teal reformats my bullet points into prose. Badly. Teal offers limited font choices, none that I want Teal Butchers company names, Mangles employment dates, extracts terms from achievements to rewrite every job title. AI generates fictional accomplishments in every section. I have a peer-reviewed publications section formatted the way I want. Teal butchered them like it did the other sections. I just wasted two hours of my life and am back to manually editing my resume outside Teal. Unacceptable. Update: Teal member services reached out almost immediately and we're discussing the issues. Bumping to two stars for that and toning down the vitriol.
It needs an Edge extension, and the button to use it needs to not be an overlaid floating box. There also needs to be more autonomous AI support - e.g. filling out forms. Applications like Google Wallet and LastPass can do this, but Teal cant. Almost everything I can do in Teal, i'm already doing using a Custom GPT in ChatGPT - except, ChatGPT Pro custom GPTs are more accurate than Teal because they are trained on my documents and custom instructions. Teal is more optimized for the job search workflow which I really appreciate. The only thing I dont like about Teal is that it reduces the job search into a keyword stuffing exercise.
I like the overall idea. It gives you a list of keywords to incorporate into your resume to help you rank higher in the ATS systems. However, Teal makes it difficult to actually add those into your resume. I wish it could automatically add the keywords into the skills section. The more keywords you add into the skills section, the more it lags. It crashed for me 2x today.
Works well on LinkedIn to save jobs. However the overall tool itself isn't really groundbreaking. Sure it helps with resume updates and keywords, but it doesn't translate to realy world success. Better off using a resume service.
When i click on the icon a blank window appears without any information
This teal extension is a bit finnicky. The web and desktop tool is fairly straightforward to use, but the extension doesn not help save jobs directly from many popular platforms like Rippling. Have to enter in the details manually to track them, so it's kind of a time killer.
The features that are there are OK, but missing some things that are deal breakers and have me looking at other tools. For example, there is no "volunteer" section available for the resume builder. And there isn't an association with companies and job postings -- if you save a company and a job (or more than one) they are not cross-linked. So you can't see the jobs from the company profile. Strange.
Still trying to learn all the bells and whistles with Teal. I find it useful for cover letters and resume comparison but struggle with Teal jobs and applying for the jobs, seems like some of the jobs are outdated. But a very good product.
Great when it works. I downloaded the extension and for the whole first day it worked great, rarely had to manually input information and I loved the little side tab on the screen that you could click. Since that day, the extension has not worked so great for me. Even clicking the pinned extension icon next to the URL doesn't do anything. I now have to manually copy and paste the job information for every job I want to save. Great idea and hopefully it starts working all the time soon.
It has been very helpful so far in my job search, helping me keep track of who I need to follow up with. I am giving 3 stars as I have not have signed up for Teal+ and used the resume builder to tailor my resume to almost a dozen applications with high percentage rates and have not gotten so much as an interview.
It's nice to track the jobs but you can't use the 'analysis' feature unless you upgrade to teal+ which means you can't really tailor your resume to each position. What to change to increase your probability (%) is hidden so it's feels like throwing darts in the dark (with poor night vision glasses :: keywords from job description).
I can't batch work my bookmarking, I tried it on linked in but it saves only one and two and then it doesn't work any more.
It's a cool tool to help you track and organize job postings. However, I don't see myself updating to pay for the extra features and visually I wish the job/resume tracker had more color contrast or tags
I am using this in my Job search and find it very useful, but have several items on a wish list. One, that I could get back to and change or view the URL that I put in when I added the job. Unemployment records require it so I end up putting it in the notes. Two, I wish I could rearrange the columns in the tracker to my needs. Three, Follow Up is a date column and I need more information, such as capturing the poster name in LinkedIn, and a check box so I can indicate if I have messaged them.
it has a little duplicate to work. not hard but need understand to do.
Still early on in using Job Tracker and other elements of TEAL, but in concept overall it saves me time from my previous method of logging jobs and contacts into a spreadsheet. That is the plus. The look-and-feel is appealing as well -- I like the Kanban feel of the different stages of the Job Search for any Job Tracked. However, I'm still on the fence in regards to function and ease of use, which is why I haven't splurged on Premium. For one thing, I do not like that I have to refresh my LinkedIn page often to accurately import jobs I want to track (and I wish I could do batch import). Additionally, I find some of the checklist features in the Kanban limiting, and for some instances I wish I could eliminate a step I didn't do or wasn't relevant in the process. It ends up sometimes feeling like mindless tasks, but eventually I figured out how to use the TEAL features that make most sense for me. Additionally, I wish that I could mark easily which jobs were Remote, Hybrid or In-Person versus just Location. Also I wish I could easily save somewhere besides my notes a date for job posting, so that I can prioritize which jobs I want to attack beyond when I saved them to the tracker.
Hoping for sponsorship/work authorization info in this extension, since Linkedin doesn't have this filter, and it can be very useful for both international students and foreign workers.
I like the app overall, but the amount of content gated behind the paywall is a bit grating and it seems the browser extension can get your accounts flagged for automated activity on e.g. LinkedIn.
Doesn't scrape enough websites. You have to go back to the website after you apply to mark it as applied.
This is a review of the free version. I like the concept and feature set but when you actually start using it it's pretty clunky. Adding a job opportunity using the extension has worked zero out of twelve times for me. Even for common job sites like LinkedIn, Greenhouse, etc. The tool that highlights key hard and soft skills is a rudimentary count of how many times a word is mentioned in the JD... you get the idea. As a basic admin tool it mostly works, but I haven't found much value beyond that.
Pretty good! The only caveat of the extension is that is slows Chrome down, hence the 3-star rating. I disable it whenever I'm not using it.
