Huntr - Job Search Tracker & Autofill

Auto fill doesn't work. Support unresponsive.
Applications take a long time, and I spent hours filling in the profile details so I can autofill applications. After a long and tenuous task, I come to find that the autofill doesn't work. I tried another extension, and that didn't work either. I feel like these "autofill" tools are a scam. I could have filled in 5 applications in the time it took me to try to debug this nonsense.
When I apply for a small company, the company's name is often changed to the name of a bigger company with a similar name when saving to the board. So easy to miss. If I don't pay close attention, I end up with incorrect data. Very sad
Application autofill is not fully working. Even does not fill anything on the job post
Too slow and holds up my application times.
It used to be a great extension that saved a lot of time. Now, it’s overloaded with unnecessary AI features, making it slow and often unresponsive. Even when it does open, there's a long wait time. I’ve started developing my own Chrome extension because manually copying job descriptions is much faster than using Huntr, but I still prefer to store my data in a database.
I was forced to use this by my career advisor, and I do not like it at all. I have used a lot of different job tracking / AI career systems and this one is NOT EVEN CLOSE to some of the better products out there. Too bad that they already paid a ton of money for this product. For context, first of all, the job tracker is way too complex for most people and it seems like they're just trying to mine your data by asking so much information. The browser extension has limited functionalities (compared to careerflow or teal which do way more). The autofill barely works (just use simplify instead). The keyword list usually just pulls out generic random words (even free tools do better). The "AI" is just a worse version of Chat GPT. And so on....... I tried really hard to use this but now I just do the bare minimum required by career advisor and use other tools for actually helping my job search.
It's only been several hours since I installed this, and this thing C.O.N.S.T.A.N.T.L.Y popped up in a new tab—literally every couple of seconds—and I barely use it! Bad first impression. Please fix this, and I'll change my stars.
Reverts changes constantly. I've reset the location field on every single experience because it set them to a hotel for some reason, but it continues to undo my changes whenever I leave and come back. It also reverts bullet points within my descriptions, and has a problem with dates. I just used the chrome extension to autofill an application and every date was off by a month. Also, does not build resumes that import into Workday cleanly. Useless.
It hardly works for me. I click and nothing happens
With each new update it's getting worse and worse. I hate the whole AI shtick that just highlights words. News flash, I already know they're important! It's not adding any additional value, it's actually taking away from the experience with the cluttered UI. The actual words I would like to take into account in my job searching strategy are never highlighted; that's what you get for throwing around buzz words like AI. Additionally it's become an enormous confusing hassle to save a job!!! Before it was just one click and now I'm so confused I don't know what to click anymore, it doesn't automatically save the job but shows me empty fields.
THEY HAVE TONS OF DEFECTS AND BUG
Pretty Bad. Very buggy. Non customizable.
Been using since mid 2019 and I keep my old application in a board called "old". Today I see a that a limit on entries was introduced. Must be a new thing because I am already WAY over it. And so what happened...? It has not kept my last 4 or 5 entries. No warning. Data gone. Very disappointing. I will look for an alternative where the dev places data integrity higher than their dollars.
CONFIRMED interference with my access to certain websites. I had to disable all extensions one at a time to find the offending extension.
The login page forces redirect to the signup page on Chrome, no matter what I try, so I could not access my account. I needed to check my notes and review the job description for an interview so this screwed me pretty badly. Works on Firefox but I keep all my information synced on chrome. Also the product has been getting worse with the AI push so it looks like it is time to find an alternative and move on from this plugin.
All I wanted was the auto fill and it does not auto fill.
I'm using the paid version of this app and have been very frustrated given the cost. I've decided to cancel my subscription since the main features of the app are not working well enough to provided the promised value of the subscription. The application autofill feature rarely works and the company has said they have no plans to work on it any time soon. The cover letter does not have any customizations options and the formatting is robotic and uninticing to read. The page formatting does not match the paired resume which makes it look generic. The AI resume tool requires a lot of intervention to get the desired outcomes and is more of a audit tool than a auto resume builder. The UI of the web app needs a lot of love and doesn't make much sense for a regular user. I.E. the home tab offers no value and yet it's at the top of the page. But the job tracker, the main feature of the app, is at the bottom middle of the navigation and easily gets lots in the options. The web app and the mobile app are extremely disconnected and do not add value to each other. The job search feature would be highly desirable if it worked and paired with the web app. There are many more reasons, but these are the big ones for me and are unfortunately involving the main tools they advertise.
If it were simply a notetaking app that saved notes and jobs you would like to apply for using a decent resume app, it would be a decent, B/B+ app. My team and I tested 10 different job titles 3 associate, 2 1st tier lead/mgr, 2 senior, 2 specialist, and 1 director. We cut Huntr some slack on niche-y jobs (there were two) keywords. It was laughable how terrible keyword matching was from an associate data analyst all the way to director of technology, it selected "management" and "participant" every time the words appeared on the age. It never could autofill from major job boards, tech-based or non-tech with little industry jargon. Very poor for anything resume building or job search related.
Awesome tool, but it's like a great party with no snacks—I can’t import the jobs I already have in my Google Sheet! Adding that feature would be a game-changer for so many of us spreadsheet fans!
I tested the extension on three sites two popular jobboards and company site. It filled up one field out of 10 on one site only. It failed to fill up even simple LinkedIn profile link field on a popular job board. Also, It does not request to fill up all information usually requested on job sites. It never upload the provided resume. Waste of time.
Strange that it doesn't automatically save jobs you apply for... its alright besides that?
Functionally, it's wonderful. However, this extension now interacts with a lot of other webpages and overrides their own CSS with the Huntr dark purple, small font you see in the popup window. It's a big bug and I've let the creator know. Will be reinstalling when it's fixed :)
It's a functional app, but it does not give you the option to delete your account or link to the invitation link. Q&A Section is no help at all, since there is not much going in that particular section.
I have been using Huntr to manage my job search, and while it has some strong features, it falls short in a few key areas. I haven't used the autofill function yet, so this review focuses on the resume and cover letter tools. The Good: The tool does a great job of tailoring my resume and cover letter to match specific job descriptions. It is also very good at identifying analytical bullets within my experience, which is helpful for highlighting impact. The Bad: I expected the process to be much more automated. My biggest frustration is the formatting; the tool constantly forces Em or En dashes, which I don't like. I also ran into embarrassing issues where the AI left placeholders like "(insert hiring manager's name)" in the text, which I missed several times before sending. What’s Missing: For a paid tool, I wish it were smarter about editing. It doesn’t help you shorten your resume to a desired 2-page length, nor does it suggest which past experiences to remove if they aren't relevant to the specific role. Finally, while it identifies analytical bullets, it doesn't actually offer suggestions to create "X, Y, Z" style metrics, which limits its usefulness.
I work with a career coach who pays for a premium version of Huntr -- we have a shared board, but when I save jobs using the extension I cannot save to the shared board. I have a smaller limit on the amount of jobs I am able to save due to not having full access to my coach's pro account through the extension. The auto fill ins from webpages works amazing though!
It's not the greatest feature because it needs more work. It doesn't always pick up on the job or know how to auto fill but its best feature when it does pull data from the correct company (about 60% of the time) it is good a going directly into resume tailoring and saving the job. Like I said. Still needs a little work but works okay. Is huntr hiring? lol
Chrome extemsion is ok but the tool is very weak in Templates for resume. There are only a few
I saw a post by Flint Luu and in many ways I agree with his review of the 'extensions' functionality. The autofill has proven to be problematic. I think the tool it 'self is pretty good. Using the board for tracking is pretty intuitive for anyone use to using Kanban or other tools. The AI is pretty good but need to always check it is providing accurate information. The real question is seeing if it generates movement past the submission phase.
I don't know if there is a feature to connect it to Outlook, as I am trying to update each job application with the outcome received via email. Also, I don't know what the maximum job entry allowance is as it's a tough market at the moment, and some people are/have been applying to 100+ applications. Also, it would be nice to get some reporting for each application stage to help understand the numbers. A lot of the stuff that I wish to try out is only available in the pro version of subscription, and it's not affordable for people who are currently seeking employment.
It could be a lot better if it allowed you to specify which sites would display the extension, as it is in now it is visible on every site that might have a job ad. And there is no way to remove it from a page without disabling the extension.
High initial startup cost (timewise)
The job tracking portion is great but the autofill never fills out anything so I've given up it. If that ever works reliably, I'd give Huntr a 5.
It'd be nice not to have thing pop up in the console when this extension is enabled while I'm developing. Thanks. Version 125.0.6422.113 (Official Build) (64-bit)
If you use Huntr without using it's Chrome Extension to do a quick transportation of information, than you might as well just stick to excel to manage your opportunities. With that said, I do have a few issues they need to fix to make this a much better user experience (Issues Rating ranges in value, 1.0 - 5.0): 1. (Issue Rating: 4.5) When you use the extension to save a post in your Huntr account, the Huntr algo. still cannot pick up Recruiter information quickly or at all. 2. (Issue Rating: 4.5) Recruiter contact are not created after using the extension to bring a post in from an external website. Users still need to manual input this information. 3. (Issue Rating: 5.5: Critical) The default setting for this extension is set to read every single page a user visits via their browser, regardless if it is related to a job posting or not. User need to manually change the setting so that the extension look has access to your browser page when the user request the extension. This needs to change because that means unknowingly, the users are granting Huntr complete access to their browser history and view in real time. In summary, the basic functionality of the extension does work. So all the hard work is done. Now they just need to fix the final bugs or add a few more tools. Since the connection from the 3rd party pages to Huntr is connected with this extension, I fully believe that Huntr can solve the last 3 critical issues in a timely fashion.
The extension does the job it's made for, at least most of the time, there are occasional job websites it does not recognize. Having to use Chrome to be able to use the Huntr extension is also an issue, I wish that they made an Addon for Mozilla Firefox as well, as I much prefer to use that browser.
I love how convenient Huntr is but I would much love it if we can use the extension with the shared boards. We cannot automatically save jobs on the boards that's being shared by others.
It needs some serious tooling. The ability to filter and find jobs by company would be exceptionally helpful. The ability to edit information that's entered, and a simple rejected button for jobs that have been rejected would be helpful. Trying to find a specific product design role when you've applied to 50 of them, is a pain in the butt. Functionally, to store what you've applied to works great.
autofill for linkedin has been broken
Ok but limit is too low, so free is not free. other extensions work better for free.
Great way to keep track of all things job search. TWO super important things you should add are: connection to Google calendar to help with reminders and add Online Interview as a activity.
I like it but it's a bit buggy and doesn't work on a lot of company sites I've been browsing. Just needs some growth and enhancement but definitely worth using already to help when it does work. Saves me ~5 min on about 60% of sites I'm looking at postings for.
This is a helpful tool, but a little clunky.
It works well for saving jobs, but why can't we do the same for contacts? Networking is extremely important in job hunting. It seems like a no brainer to also be able to save contacts in the same way.
Good in concept, but it often makes errors when detecting information like company name.
Good I think and Is there a 15-year-old?
Very helpful when it works. However, I can't always seem to get it to work. Not sure if that's my fault, or my misuse of a trackpad, but I've stopped using a lot of its highlight features in favor of copy and paste.
