Unhook - Remove YouTube Recommended & Shorts

Videos don't play when using this extension.

no matter how I have my settings, the end screen still shows recommendations, the one thing I want to kill

hiding end screens feature is not working

My main interest was in disabling live chat, in particular in full screen. I use Chrome browser. I have a livestream playlist of 200+ rail cams. I want the chat box to not pop up at all, when switching channels, in full screen mode. Tried the app and it worked one time, for 7 seconds. Then worked as app did not exist. Thanks for the effort.

Like marq said: Was working great when it did. It needs to be updated. Currently, it's showing suggested videos after one is finished playing. Will update review once it's fixed.

It hasn't removed suggested videos for a few weeks now.

dosen´t hide endscreens!!

With YouTube ramping up the so called "features" every single day, this plugin is 9-10 month out of date. Without updating, it only work for half of what people want.

Works as stated but did not have the feature I was looking for. Now even when uninstalled my recommended videos is gone. Going to have to reinstall my browser ffs.

This removed not just shorts but ALL videos, gave me an empty youtube screen

YouTube has seemingly conquered Unhook as of June 23, 2025. Unhook no longer removes Shorts. They are displaying now on YouTube despite the Unhook extension being on and running.

It's not blocking shorts from my search feed. Otherwise the app works great.

Unhook is incredibly effective at removing YouTube distractions, significantly improving focus. The core functionality is brilliant and much appreciated. However, I'm giving it 1 star due to a critical issue: it is closed-source. This lack of transparency is a major concern. We, the users, cannot verify the code we are running in our browsers. This presents potential security and privacy risks, as there's no way to audit the extension for hidden tracking or malicious behaviour. Trust requires transparency. I genuinely love what this extension does, and I would instantly change my rating to 5 stars if the developers embraced free and open-source principles. I strongly urge other users to request this change as well. Open source is vital for user security and trust in browser extensions. Developers, please consider making Unhook open-source. The concept is fantastic, but its closed nature prevents a wholehearted recommendation.

no good.,.... yes it gets rid of the end of video overlay suggestions... but it also makes the youtube homepage not show a single video anymore

DO NOT USE. Once removed my youtube is permanently bricked on all devices. All videos show an error message saying "Video unavailable This content isn't available, try again later."

Not working. Shorts are showing up in my feed, even though I have the option selected to disable shorts.

Literally broke Youtube for me and didn't even do what it claims.

Illegally alters web search and youtube window.

The new YouTube update doesn't block the suggested videos. Unhook needs a new update.

This broke youtube as of 9/5/23

Uninstalling because there does not appear to be a way to get it to start automatically turned on. The whole point is that I don't want my neurodivergent brain to even KNOW that the distractions are there. If I have to toggle the extension on just to hide stuff, by the time I'm taking the steps to do so, I've already defeated the point.

Am I do something wrong as not one thing has changed. Am using Windows 10 and Chrome, have installed it twice and not one thing has changed as shorts, comments and everything else keep showing up.

it doesn't block those stupid "shorts" videos from search results i'm not a fan of the youtube version of tiktok videos

Unfortunately the reason I downloaded this doesn't work. I wanted to remove the Shorts from Chrome. Shorts on a PC are about as dumb as you can get so I since I don't suffer from VVS I wanted them to stop taking up search results. Unfortunately this doesn't do it. Despite having the option checked. The only feature that I wanted this for.

Causing extensive blinking on embedded YouTube videos, which also cannot be reproduced. This is very annoying and may even induce a seizure on people with epilepsy. Please fix this!

Needs to be updated for the latest YouTube layout changes. The "Hide Explore, Trending" option hides the "You" section but does not hide the "Explore" section. Was working great until it fell behind YouTube's changes.

The app works, except it also blocks the ability to tweak the video speed, the whole video speed menu becomes blocked, making it kinda unusable.
