It was a bad move taking away the ability to set image by URL, in the free version. Now you have to pay if you want to customize the thumbnails with either uploading or linking an image.

As usual, they changing like they want without option to customize or stay in old wersion.

I've used this for years and have never had an issue with it. Suddenly today, for some inexplicable reason, the whole thing just stopped working and I had to reinstall it. When I did so, all of my custom icons were gone and now are locked behind a paywall. Taking away free features to make them paid is a scummy move and the extension feels awful to use without it as visuals are usually the fastest way to recognize and click something. Not to mention it just looks ugly when half the bookmarks have an icon and the other half don't. Greedy. Time to uninstall and find something else. Worst of all, the dev apparently is brushing off the complaints. Won't be using anything from them again. :)

Making custom URLs a pro feature has made me uninstall this extension. If you want custom icons for free, do not download this.

Custom URL's are now a pro feature? I see the author is planning on monetizing by turning existing free features into paid now. Sad but time to move onto another extension now.

Greedy paywall approach ruined the app and made sure I will never install anything from these people. Especially Michal Šimonfy who seems to be the person behing these terrible changes. SHAME on you Michal

Unresponsive smart dial. +Now custom thumbnail became paid The page capture hasn't been working for years, the circle keeps spinning and that's it, but I changed the "custom URL" quite recently and it didn't stop me from doing it. I've been using it since the first version.

It crashed with an error and lost all settings and bookmarks.

I enjoyed having this extension up until today, when suddenly, everything was gone. Apparently, they updated the program or something, and it erased all of my speed dial thumbnails. I can't remember what all I had on there, so I don't know if I can replicate them. I'm really ticked off about this. The least they could have done would have been to warn users that this was going to occur so we could do a screenshot or otherwise save our information prior to it being unceremoniously deleted. I'll never trust this extension again.

Disabling "Show in context menu" does not work - I still see Speed Dial in context menu. Please fix it.

edit: sent a message to staff, may change my review if im wrong. So close to pure greatness. this was almost the perfect new tab page.almost... All the tiles are rectangles, which is just silly because all icons are designed to fit into squares. this means there is tonnes of empty..wasted space. like, how hard can it be to let us change the tile size. also there is no lock option in case of miss-click/drags of tiles. also the upgraded version says "more customization" without saying what that is?? like what? not even their own website says whats in the paid upgrade. urgh, what a c@ck up.

After using this app for many years, I am now forced to remove it. The latest update removed all the tabs that I had saved and essentially reset all of my settings.

I have used this extension for longer time and I liked it. But now i got troubles, Opening Speeddial2 shows on top all the groups but opens only one group and cannot open another one. I tried to export but there come no reaction. Import reacts but I have nothing to import. I cannot see how to repair or to recover the bookmarks. Please help, I am disappointed

This could have been a great extension. However suddenly and quietly making essential features paid, AFTER one has already been using the extension for a while, is in some cases really bad form. If I've been using the extension for years and NOW all of a sudden my ability to export my bookmarks and possibly switch to another tool is LOCKED pending upgrade, this is basically as immoral as it gets.

Author, sites have favicons! Let's use them instead of website screenshots?

Became robber-ware! I used this and loved it for years. I paid the small, one-time fee to be able to backup and sync my Speeddial landing/new tab page. This extension was simply one I could not live without. THEN they did what too many devs do, and went to a subscription service, AND cut existing features (like the ability to add custom CSS). It's not too big a fee, but it's the prinicple of the thing. Too many devs get greedy, and I won't enable them. Sorry, but I'm not using this anymore.

There was an update and i lost all my bookmarks. Don't trust this extension.

Developer sold out to Bing - no way to use any other search from within extension AND no way to disable the search box. Suggest trying something else - I'm liking Group Speed Dial so far.

You have LOCKED the ability to add custom icons to bookmarks behind your PREMIUM paywall. I've been using your extension for nearly 10 years, since before the #2 was added. But now, I'll never use it again. Enjoy being REPLACED by Tabliss. As a long time user, your business practices are morally wrong, and unethical. You are a bad man, and your extension is bad. I await your response, knowing it won't come.

Dont use this extension. After last update all bookmarks disappeared and cannot import the JSON file with the previous settings Total disaster losing hundreds of bookmarks. OMG

It was good enough to use but you decided to make background feature a paid feature. Felt wrong will be removing it as fast as i can.

it use to be free to change the background. not its a subscription thing and weird text popping out. no more, goodbye.

Once upon a time, when it worked it was a great little app as it carried all my bookmarks to the various browsers I was using. Then there was a $5.00 upgrade adding backgrounds, and unlimited sites, which made it nicer to look at and you could move the various site around as you needed/wanted to which really came in handy with all the sites I had. Sadly I had a bad turn of events and had no internet for around 1.5 years and by the time I had Internet back the the app had quit working.

Requires "Read and change all your data on all websites" permission. Why a bookmark page needs it? Why is it not optional? There's API for that, other extensions use it. Smells fishy. I'd stay away from this one.

Menu Page - User Accounts (Upgrades) is always loading, so I can't log into my account, and can't subscribe to upgrades

what should i do if all the bookmarks are disappeared??

purchased extension with unlimited use date, suddenly started cutting features, yesterday removed the last feature that was in the PAYED version (added custom tile icons). I am deleting and sending a complaint about this extension!

There is a bug, under account page, there is a loader spinning but never load anything!

Irritating pop-up

I used this for a while, but there is an obnoxious popup every single time I open a new tab (which is probably hundreds of times a day). I searched for alternatives (literally, search for 'speed dial 2 alternatives') and there are other developers, some look more, some less trustworthy. I suggest reading the developer info, look at screenshots and permissions and choose one that suits you if you're also annoyed by the ad.

Shows ads for other extensions when opening new tabs. Extremly irritating.

Decided to be an ad platform to push AI trash onto its users. I will be looking for a replacement immediately.

I used this extension for a long time until I tried to open it on windows 10 tablet with touch interface. You can't create new bookmark by touching "+", you can't "[tab]" into "+" using on-screen sensor keyboard, you can't open context menu by right-click (long touch)! Completely unusable extension on the sensor display!

My chrome froze, so then I closed it. When I opened it, it said it crashed and asked me to restore settings which a did. However, the Speed Dial tiles that I had all dissappeared. I do not have the pro or premium account just the basic. Please help on how I can retrieve all my tiles back. I did not delete the extension yet in hopes that I could somehow get it retrieved. I am worried if I delete the extension i might loose the files. Is there any way to access these saved bookmarks/tiles? Thank you!!

Why remove mouse action functionality? This is very inconvenient! ! !

please remove ctrl+B hotkey or add option to disable or rebind it! i use this hotkey for BOLD text all time!

The "Move To" is no longer working as of today, 05/31/23. I select the tile that I wish to move, click on "Move To..." and nothing happens now.

Wow, blocking users own custom thumbnail images behind a paywall is a new low, Speed Dial. Can someone please create a clone of this extension that brings back all the functionality that has been free for years?

Drag-and-drop is gone, so to move a bookmark between folders you need to create a new one and remove the old one. Sync is restoring the previous state, so when I make changes, syncing ruins all my work. Thumbnail creation is really slow. This extension was much better years ago, now it doesn't worth a dollar.

You screw your customers with a bait and switch. "lifetime" license is 3 years for you. I hope you die a slow death, you shady POS. You took our money at much higher cost to us and stab us in the back demanding a monthly payment now. The product has hardly been updated during this time too. speed dial is not a good product but I put up with it because I bought a lifetime license. I won't be using anything you offer ever again you shady shyster.

I too have been stung by the promise of a "lifetime" license. I go out of my way to avoid subscription models and never use software from companies that demand a monthly payment. When I pay for software, it's because it'll be a one-time payment, which is what Speed Dial promised me. It's certainly making me think twice about using any other company that offers lifetime deals in the future. Just can't trust these people.

I've been paid subscriber for this add-on for years. I'm pretty sure it's the ONLY add-on I've ever paid for. The developer decided that they regret offering a lifetime subscription, and just ruined the add-on to try and get me to start a new yearly subscription. $#%& you. One of the features of the new yearly 'pro' subscription is the ability to change the font - and the latest update changed the default font to some abhorrent almost unreadable font so you can't change it to something better without paying for the new pro subscription. For 5+ years I have used this with a perfectly readable font and now it's changed and I can't change it without paying. Again, %$&# you. This kind of %#$# is why people are so reluctant to pay for software in the first place.
