Does not have synchronization? Lol absurd.

developer has implemented a constant spyware like behavior for the extension, which CALLS HOME to the developers web server with IP ADDRESS & PERSISTENT IDENTIFIER unique to the browser & machine it's installed on, every 24 hours. It appears to be for a "configuration check", but the developer should have no need to isolate this down to each user and aggressively poll every 24 hours. Developer has been given no permission to remotely deploy config changes to the extension, but it is baked in. Regardless of using VPN, moving around etc. this developer gets to know every 24hrs, your unique IP address and gets to track you down to your specific machine. Huge privacy violation.

Oh the awful heart sickening disappointment when you realize all your previous sessions disappeared and evaporated into thin air. Would not bother with this program unless you want extra stress. Saving sessions of info or searches is time and energy wasted if you lose it without warning.

I am super disappointed. I have used Session Buddy for over a year and it was excellent, but suddenly today I opened it to save a session and realized all my saved sessions from the last year are gone. I haven't changed anything, so losing all my work without any warning or reason is devastating. Is there any way to recover this data? I would love to change my review if this can be fixed, but right now I am very frustrated

Doesnt save tabs across computers. At that point it's useless as you can just use your history tab to reopen tabs.

button appeared said it was "NEW" but I had it, so I followed it.. ya know what happened, it deletes ALL the sessions you saved, if you remove the tool and then add it back? So all those things I had are gone.. yeah.. your say it can restore a backup, but doesn't do that automatically save backups like a Digital Audio Workstation.. (imagine losing a full recording session, because a tool didn't automatically make saves????? periodic SAVES for all your work).I just assumed software developers understood that by default, back up your work, well, why don't YOU help?? GRRRRR

Used to be great. Firefox then disabled it recently and now in Chrome it has become unusable after recent update. At this point it is so unreliable as to be USELESS and I don't have time to debug it any further. Please save this tool before I find something to replace it.

This Session Buddy extension crashes my browser every single night at 3AM without exception. It’s a constant, reproducible failure that has been reported repeatedly by users, yet the developer continues to ignore it. No fixes, no accountability - just a broken extension causing daily browser crashes. Despites early time before the Session Buddy was good extension, but now completely unacceptable. No "buddy" more

Why did all my collections disappear after the update?! I had sever years worth of them!

says it manages bookmarks, but in the list of features, bookmarks are not mentioned.

Another update, another instance of my entire collection gone. Totally unreliable and if you are not constantly exporting a saved file daily, you are at risk at losing everything. Use at your own caution.

This extension causes my browser to collapse every single night. It’s a nonstop, daily problem.

I've been using Session Buddy for years but recently, it seems to be the cause of Google Chrome constantly crashing. I just restarted my laptop, went into Chrome and saw that all my sessions were gone. Sessions I had saved from months earlier with links I needed...all gone in a flash. I followed the steps to find my data in Windows Explorer but there is no way of importing it. There's also no way to get in touch with the anyone/the developer to get help which is a real let down. I guess I'll have to find another extension like it or return to bookmarking which is long and tedious. To say I'm disappointed is a real understatement.

I lost all my saved sessions there was tons of useful information, I have no idea how to recover. And it couldn't be restored I guess. Looks like I had the same exp as Anthony Foglia had. It happened with the last update. email for communication krumal@bk.ru

Terribly broken. Do not install. I've been a steady user of this extension for years. I used it regularly to restore my session, especially when my browser crashed. Over the past year, it's become a complete and colossal failure at that. It no longer stores sessions when Chrome crashes. And now it's lost all my sessions from the past year. This inability to due what it's promised is consistent across machines and operating systems. The developers no longer care. And the inability of Chrome itself to handle restarted gracefully has lead me to switch to Firefox, where there are better extensions for this and better support in the browser itself. This extension is garbage and should be removed.

Did not work at all

So they ignore my emails, they block my posts on their google groups & it doesn't work. Did it work before they re-created the entire extension in 2022, I think it was? Yes it did for the most part. It always found what I needed or told me it wasn't there. Now it finds something maybe 1% of the time & the rest of the time it just gives me tons of results that have zero to do with what I searched for. IT'S GARBAGE and the fact that I get no customer service speaks volumes. I've been using it for at least 6-10 years I think. Just terrible!

Nice when it works, disastrous when it doesn't. Twice in the past 6months or so all sessions simply disappeared with no apparent way to recover them. That's too unreliable for me.

DO NOT USE SESSION BUDDY. This is the second time that they purged all saved sessions. They have no regards for the user data. Never use this extension if you care about what you want to save.

This used to be a pretty good product. However, it no longer does snapshots. That is the main reason I used it, so if something happened, I could go back to the last set of good tabs. It not only doesn't do that anymore, if you go to the help section, it is listed in the known problems. The instructions for trying to fix it are difficult to follow, even for this former Software/Firmware (embedder) Engineer. They want you to use the debugging console to fix THEIR app. If you want support, they need you to send them a bunch of things that would be almost impossible for anyone but a software engineer to obtain. There is nowhere to just contact support without providing all these things they want. They are basically asking you to do all the diagnostics, save reports, and a bunch of other stuff. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. WHY HAS IT NOT BEEN FIXED? I am switching to Tab Session Manager.

I lost all my saved Tabs. Needs a fix on the code. Don't download this

I have been using this plugin for over 6 years. It has been a game changer for my work flows. I've set it up where each client of mine at work has their own window I can open that goes directly to thier services online. It's been great for years! I've set up tabs for travel plans, for specific work projects. I mean this app is perfect! Until last year I started to work, and all my tabs were gone. no restoratation no help. ok lets go again - I spent this year using session buddy again, building up my client tabs for work and personal use. I probably have about 15 workflows saved. AND TODAY>>>>>GONE!!! Good bye Session Buddy. Please fix this issue.

This extension has poor usability and, worse, doesn't work right. For usability, it lacks even the most obvious conveniences, like choosing a reasonable default name when saving a session, providing a simple drop down interface, or providing a single keystroke to save the current state or to update the session after changes are made, ... It even warns that it chose an obviously inappropriate keyboard shortcut (cmd-b), but for some reason hasn't fixed this yet. I have also found this extension to be about as unreliable as any I've ever used. The first time I tried to save sessions, I saved several sessions using variations in what I included, then closed and immediately reopened the extension page, just to make sure it was working. When it reopened, the page was blank, and the sessions never reappeared. On subsequent uses, similar failures are not only not rare, they seem to be the norm. For instance, the last time I attempted to restore as session, of 397 tabs, only 74 were restored. It would be very unwise for anyone to rely on this extension, or even waste time exploring its use. I strongly encourage the developer to stop development of this extension and remove it from the extension store, as a service to the community. The last thing we need is more poorly written extensions wasting our time and diluting the extension ecosystem. Please leave the development of extensions to people with the talent and knowledge to do so successfully.

All saved collections disappeared after years of storing. There were no updates, nothing. This is the worst app for this purpose ever

Updates REGULARLY delete ALL my sessions with no way to recover them. Horrible app!

no easy way to move links from one collection to another

this Extension does NOT have any 'opions ' ... no popup, no interface AT ALL ..., NOTHING ... Literally !

At one moment i got all my saved tabs lost because by some reason this extension overwritten all saved sessions with new ones without any warnings

Incredibly unstable. Upon use it lost nearly 170 tabs, instead just picking a handful and duplicating them 170 times. Don't download. Or if you do, don't count on it.

Plenty of issues listed below, for me, cannot organise the tabs in a 'collection' by dragging them up or down the list, or even a right click option, similarly, you can move a tab to a new collection, but not to an existing one, which defeats the purpose of having a collection... waste of time

I’ve lost over a 2 years worth of saved sessions after a recent Session Buddy update—and there was no warning, backup, or reliable recovery method. Everything just vanished. I followed their support documentation but nothing worked. The fact that such critical data isn’t synced or backed up is shocking. This experience has been extremely frustrating and costly. I trusted Session Buddy to manage my research and saved sessions, but it failed me completely. If you value your browsing data, do not trust this app—it offers no reliable backup and can wipe out everything without warning.

Worked great now it works like trash if you have a ton of tabs open it loads about half of them and if you try to save a session it saves maybe 3/4 of them it also unreliably records window closes. It was great but its pretty awful now

Disappeared from chrome randomly, couldn't reinstall, took its data with it. Today it shows back up like I installed it but guess what, all my saved sessions, years of various research projects, software development resources, tools, real work is just gone. I scoured my computer trying to recover the data but it's just gone. This sort of thing has happened more than once. This would be a fantastic resource, if I could trust it. The most important consideration for any data management tool is data preservation at all costs. The last thing that should disappear even if Google nukes the extension (this is my suspicion) is the user data. I would seriously recommend you do not trust this extension with anything important.

It worked well for a while, but I lost all tabs after recent update. "Restore manual" from official website is not working, i don't have folders from it. Mac OS. Decided not to use the extension anymore. Too bad((( Unrelyable

Second time, within a year, I've lost off my sessions. First time support helped me, but know they ignore my emails. Don't ever trust this extensions!

All sessions(including named) has been dissapeared after extension upgraded. This is pure criminal.

Why do you need my PASSWORDS, CREDIT CARD INFORMATION, and other sensitive information? Huge red flag- AVOID! Their Privacy Policy doesn't excuse any of this: Authentication information: "This category provides coverage for future premium features.." For "future" features. Uh-huh. Sure. When? Just don't include this if it's not a current feature. Financial and payment information: "We have to include this category because we provide a way for users to send us donations." The Donations feature only opens up a new tab with the URL https://sessionbuddy.com/donate/, so its completely unnecessary. There are other extensions that do the same thing and require none of these ridiculous permissions.

When I open a session, why the heck it opens tabs ONE BY ONE? If you have multiple tabs within one session, it takes forever for the Chrome to open everything and eating up RAM pretty fast. Stupid.

Used to be good an consistent until they've released a new update about a year ago. However, this is not the main reason for one star: today when I re-opened chrome and opened sessionbuddy - all saved sessions which I've been saving for the past 2+ years were completely gone. This coincided with the sessionbuddy update (as there's a banner with a label reading "new" - 4.0.5 release). IndexedDB subfolders (as per instructions on their website) - none of the files were larger than a couple hundred kb and no database files were present which I could use to at least attempt and restore the lost data. Files within subfolders looked like it's a fresh installation of the extension. No idea if there are any usable DB files I can find anywhere on a system now. Absolutely gutted, can't even describe what I'm feeling right now with words. Whoever released that update - maybe you should try testing it properly before releasing!! P.S. Reading other reviews it seems I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. And, no - this has nothing to do with "External processes like disk cleaners", at least in my case

lost all collections. again. but it's ok bc Although rare, there are browser bugs that can lead to inconsistent data, affecting Session Buddy's ability to display collections or history. External processes like disk cleaners may also corrupt data. While there is nothing an extension can do to prevent this, in many cases data is recoverable. We can walk you through the steps to restore it. The next release includes detection and automatic repair of known data corruption scenarios. We're also working on a cloud storage feature that completely eliminates any risks associated with storing data locally.

My sessions and history from many years are gone. This has nothing to do with upgrade from v3 to v4. I already had v4 for almost a year (I specifically remember waiting for 4.0.2 to bring back "single-click close"). Using Chrome on Windows 10. The history retention is set to 10 years and 500 events. Searched everywhere, followed the guides on the website, but without success. It's sad that such usefull and popular extension has such severe bugs.

I love losing all my saved sessions when the extension updated with no possible way to recover them because it decided to overwrite the old folder rendering your v3 to v4 restoration procedure entirely useless

Restarted my computer and all my saved sessions were lost. I mean EVERYTHING. Terrible. Would give 0 stars if I could. TO ALL NEWCOMERS: DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS EXTENSION! YOU COULD LOSE YOUR SAVED SESSIONS AT ANY TIME WITHOUT WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!

Out of the blue the extension has wiped out all of my saved sessions of years without warning. They are nowhere to be found, even after following the dev's convoluted instructions posted on the internet in an attempt to recover them. The users shouldn't have to be put through the hassle of scouring for their saved sessions and collections in the first place - isn't the extension's purpose to supposedly save all that for you so you wouldn't have to struggle? Saved sessions, collections and all data should transfer automatically with every update and not wipe everything out. All of this proves this is a dysfunctional, untrustworthy extension. Excuses by the dev, not taking accountability and indirectly blaming the users instead. Edit: Like I said, "without warning". And just now, May 8th 2025 I lost all of my sessions AGAIN after restarting my computer. Removing this useless unreliable extension.
