doesnt work properly, unmutes after clicking on the page

google chrome has 'mute site', so this is per tab? but what about a shortcut for that? ctrl+M no longer works changed to 1 star; this extension breaks 'mute site' and doesn't provide any alternative

As other's have mentioned, it's currently broken due to a change in Chrome. Now it works to mute the site, rather than the tab. But worse, it can break your browser, which is why I'm posting this review - as a warning to others. While the extension's mute now works across a site, it is still separate from the built in "mute site" option, meaning you can't natively unmute a site muted with the extension. And since this setting is preserved, if you have muted any site and then remove or disable the extension, the site will stay muted. It would be easy for someone to disable the extension because of the issues, and later run into a muted site without connecting the dots on why it's muted. Additionally, it the control only works for the first tab opened for a site. Using it in any other tab will update the icon to say it's muted, but it will not actually mute. (Similarly, muting via the first tab won't update the extension icon in the other tabs.) If you close the first tab, the control switches to the next tab. But I found a situation where if I then mute this tab (the one newly in control), then use "reopen closed tab" to bring back the previous primary tab, and then attempt to unmute, it breaks all media playback. Videos can be scrubbed, but will not play. Edit: After disabling the extension, the native "mute site" feature will still not work for existing tabs. Closing the tab and opening it again seems to fix this.

Extension doesn't work by click "m", why?

Unless I'm missing something it seems like you have to open the tab to mute it? If that's true then I have no idea the purpose of this extension.

It downloads to Chrome nice and fast, but there are no short cut keys or a way assign any, I don't want to do extra clicking when I just click once and mute the twitch streamers I'm watching, with this extension I have to click multiple times just to get to the mute button. Why can't I just press M and it mutes, like most things.

Had a class today with students where I had multiple google meet rooms open. This extension did not work at all to mute the multiple rooms I had open in separate tabs. I have gotten it to work with a single room in the past. Don't know why it didn't work to mute multiple tabs simultaneously.

Cannot mute tabs when you're not on those you wanna mute. Sorry to say this but there's no need for this extension when you can enable tab muting on chrome without any extension. I suggest you google "mute tab chrome" and look for a thread from reddit.

Broke with recent Chrome update. Using this extension for Twitch, and now all audio plays through one tab regardless of if it's muted or not. Edit: I have tested with Twitch, and removing the extension does not fix this issue. The tabs remain muted, and one tab controls the audio of all other tabs. All other tabs have the icon represent a muted symbol, even when not muted. Edit 2: This issue still persists. I've noticed one more thing, while using it, the singular tab that works has the extension showing the sound playing icon, but all other tabs show the tab muted icon, despite not being muted. I really hope this get's fixed soon because this is burdensome to constantly have to manage my tabs and adjust which one is playing audio and when.

Works, but its impossible to not mute a tab when clicking on it when the tabs are small.

This would be a perfect extension BUT I can't set it to default on on new tabs so I have to turn it on EVERY time. This easily makes it half as useful as it could be.

As others have pointed out, it just randomly stops working sometimes and becomes a useless button. I don't know how this is still a problem.

Love it, but sometimes I have to delete and readd it because if I mute a tab, it won't later let me unmute it and it's really annoying. But it works most of the time so it's okay, and readding isn't that hard.

Working, but clunky interface. You have to mute tabs by clicking extensions > mute tab while browsing the tab you want muted. It should have been on the context menu or better yet, on a small audio icon on the tab like Opera browser does it.

I had a class today where i needed to see both the students and the presentation. I attempted to use this extension but found the audio of both tabs was playing out of the first google meet tab I had opened. Any solutions as to how i could avoid hearing the audio out of both? or is this just an issue on google chromes end?

This icon didn't do a simple click-once-to-mute, click-once-to-unmute on my computer. Clicking on the icon opened a mini-window which allows me to pause the video playing sound. That's multiple clicks, which isn't any better than right-clicking on the tab and then selecting "unmute site."

I have a problem because I can't listen to the other tabs.

Tab with audio is at the left, but button to mute the tab is at the right. Not a great solution. It was so easy before to click on the speaker icon in the tab, now you can't. Using this extension makes it harder than just muting the site because you have to switch to the tab you want to mute to use the right-click tab muting option.

Not sure what is happening but when I mute the tab using this plugin it will mute it but as soon as I leave and move to another tab it stops working. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still the same thing. Hope this gets fixed soon and I will put the rating back up to 5 stars again.
