You can paste a youtube video url directly into Gemini to get a summary for free.

It turned paid, you'd get more using gemini 2.5 pro with an api key than using mediocre models like gemini 2.0 and gemini 2.5 lite with this extension. Sad, but true.

Was perfect until they added a paywall. Now you get 1 star and uninstall!

Why are you paying for the API? I can supply my own api key, there are free extensions that do that so I switched to one of them

i don't know if it works for others but in my case every time it only summarizes a very small portion of the video so it's completely useless

The free limit is very small - literally 2-3 videos. In essence, the extension is paid.

Can't sign in to Google using Vivaldi Browser, I get this error: "Error: The user turned off browser signin", I think it's a Vivaldi limitation, but can you work around it?

Don't fall for the "Fake-nice" review. Summarize the video feature does not work properly. Useless extension.

it works for a brief summary but I cannot login to google with the google login button - therefore I cannot "Unlock language settings, length customization, statistics, AI model selection and more!"

One issues: I wish I could open the summary in a new tab. Reading in the sidebar is awkward. I will revise my review if this issue is addressed.

After the update on January 12th, I can no longer access the settings screen. After pressing the "gear" button, I am asked to log in to Google. Nothing happens when I press the "Google" button there. I'm already logged in to Youtube, so it's strange to make me log in again. Are you trying to hack by making me log in a second time? And there should be an official options feature for the extension. At "chrome://extensions/?id=ogihgbocgnbhhdcmcolhipjhkmkecpeg", I can't find an "Options" item on this page.

Needs an option to specify how verbose the summary should be. Do you need a full play-by-play of the video or just a brief overview of the main points? There are currently zero options

Easy and simple to use. However, it does not support Gemini 3. Support for personal accounts on Google Gemini and ChatGPT 5.1 should be added. I have paid accounts and cannot use them on this add-on.
