Katalon Recorder (Selenium tests generator)

Save-restore is very difficult. Write commands, then load them, this is a quest level 99. Clumsy.

It does not work in the latest Chrome. Nothing can be recorded.

A lot of its functions don't work without having to do some heavy digging or modifying. It says it works with Selenium frame works but its a bait and switch to get you to download Katalon Studio just to get your tests to work.

At first the UI is better than Selenium IDE. Went for a login test that also looked fine. Then tried to check if a certain page was there by opening it and clicking on a button: Katalon Recorder randomly can't even open the page, resulting in a false negative. Then I tried a test that should fail by giving a wrong url: test passed anyway as it somehow managed to click on the button. So we got false negatives and positives, nice. Oh and I almost overlooked how slow is the whole testing. Back to Selenium IDE, which is way more reliable if you're either ready to fight its rather amateurish UI or prepared to improve it as it's open software.

Updating to 7.0, our website no longer loads when Katalon Recorder extension is enabled. Had to disable the extension on our Chrome/Edge browsers. FireFox seems to be working but still on version 5.5.3.

The May 2024 update causes JavaScript errors on several sites for me. If I disable Katalon, the sites work fine. :(

When I installed this plugin, I couldn't access any pages anymore! I was only able to use my browser normally when I turned off the use of this plugin!

After installing and using this extension my browser was HIJACKED and Google search starts redirect me to Bing. It's terrible. I didn't install any other extension for a while. So I'm sure it happened after this one.

It does not record anything and when i try to stop recording, nothing happens. I see this error in the console: {message: “The message port closed before a response was received.”} https://forum.katalon.com/t/the-message-port-closed-before-a-response-was-received/8258 The issue is known for more than 5 years and is just ignored. The extension is complete trash!

complicated and not productive

I thought it was improvement of Selenium IDE, turns out it just broke as hell. Much more difficult than Selenium. Cannot import to Katalon Studio, always error. Some commands are just not working.

Is there a bitcoin miner attached? When opening a new chrome tab, Katalon recorder force my fans to spin at max. When inspecting chrome task manager, it says the new tab consumes 100% CPU. Removing 1 extension at a time, I landed on Katalon recorder being the root cause. Removed it right away to have my PC return to normal.

Impossible to write and evaluate expressions to compare between strings. Oftentimes, the extension does not append commands to a test case through recording -> have to close the window and reopen it. Overall, I had a very difficult time setting things up. Extension is not intuitive for developers at all when it comes to end-to-end testing. Useless extension!

The devs keep trying to ruin user experience after each update. Unnecessary changes the UI, asking for review while I'm in between something very important. PATHETIC!!!

I used to love Katalon, but over the past month or so, the multitude of pop-ups is starting to get old fast. If this keeps up, I will be switching to a different automation software that doesn't harass the end user with a million pop-ups.

I couldn't figure out why my chrome was crashing for a few days... turns out it was this extension. Strange that it is somehow using resources while supposedly inactive? Crashes occured on google pages (google search, hangouts, maps).

This extension do not have any feature to make an export or backup local, it doesn't generate an backu p file, so if you need it. Choose other one extension.

Loved this extension, and will change my review once this is solved, but the extension seems to either contain or be infected by iyfsearch. Would love to see this fixed, since it has been an incredibly useful tool in web development.

Garbage

Must be a great app, but unfortunately I cannot use it - my keyboard is not working! Cannot type anything in a table Command Target Value. Nor delete or erase. Rebooted my laptop. Didn't help. Latest Chrome and Windows OS. Thought report a bug, but was directed to the forum and had to register to report, which I don't like. And I couldn't find similar problem reported on the forum through search.

It just limits you. Too many restrictions. Can't even test the product due to daily limits. Uninstalling it.

Work a little bit more on video tutorials. Your documentation is either outdated or doesn't seem to work when I'm trying to apply it. I have wasted a pretty good part of the day in trying to get a simple thing to work and can't do it.

Do not loop such as uipath

This was a five-star extension. Now version 3.9.1 crashes every other play back. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

Nice UX but failed to record a scenario to automate some actions on Slack (wrong locators and playback failed)

Update 5.7.0 has broken textfield. Cannot edit command, target and value.

how to export the test case to java & testNG?

It was okay but exported Katalon Test case is not working if imported to Katalon Studio. It would be helpful if that works. That why we are automating the test not to debug the error.

Great start! Please make the Ruby export valid ruby. Currently it exports the script with ${receiver} where it should be @driver in the element_present? and alert_present? and close_alert_and_get_its_text methods

could not find a way to encrypt password easily which reduces the usability.

What excactly does it record!?
