Sites I use for work I have disabled the extension for all 3 items but it still blocks things. The only way I can find to prevent this is to just disable the entire extension.
Malwarebytes Browser Guard is not for me. I had major problems with this extension. Whenever I Googled something, I would instantly get a pop-up saying that something had been blocked, even though I hadn’t clicked on anything. I tried to fix the issue by running virus scans, looking into other programs that might help, uninstalling Chrome, checking my profile, and even moving data from this email account to another one because I thought that with the constant Malwarebytes Browser Guard pop-ups, I might have adware or a hijacked Chrome profile. I was worried about everything—my bank details, my personal information. I thought those blocked pop-ups might be adware or maybe even a Trojan on my PC. But in the end, it was nothing. I knew I hadn’t clicked any dodgy links or downloaded anything suspicious. I had just reinstalled Windows earlier in January because of a Trojan, which I successfully removed. That experience made me freak out even more because of these pop-ups, which shouldn’t even have appeared in the first place. Malwarebytes Browser Guard was warning me about preloaded links from Google Chrome itself, so there was actually no threat. All my stress and panic were for nothing. There wasn’t even a real threat. I’ll keep using Malwarebytes Antivirus, but the browser extension is not for me.
This extension is useful, but the "Website blocked due to suspicious pattern" notification keep popping up in a new window and it's very annoying. I've already unchecked all the notification in setting, but it still pops up for no reason. The extension should be just blocking any malicious website without the need to notify me in a new window. If anyone can tell me how to disable the notification pop ups, it would be greatly appreciated.
It sucks. Every time I have an update, these pop ads comes back & right now the developer is supposedly to be taking care of my problem since I have a ticket # to no avail! The tech support name is Lisa which I emailed her twice with NO reply from her. Manual remove them, 10 seconds later, these ads comes back. These ads pops up on my yahoo homepage which they're driving me nuts!!!!! I can see why the rating is low b/c I agree.
Completely disastisfied! Every single time I open my browser, I’m immediately accosted by an obnoxious, unskippable warning insisting that I disable certain rules to satisfy Google’s latest, ever-changing update. It’s as if I’m being held hostage by a pop-up. Thinking it would be a quick fix, I dutifully disabled both EasyLists as instructed—only to have the same warning reappear not once, but an infuriating 31 more times. It’s like a digital game of whack-a-mole, and I’m losing. The entire experience is, quite frankly, horrible. It’s a masterclass in user frustration—a perfect storm of broken updates, unhelpful notifications, and complete disregard for the sanity of the people forced to endure it. Every interaction with this warning is a reminder of how little thought seems to have gone into the user experience. It’s not just inconvenient; it’s genuinely demoralizing. I’ve wasted hours scouring YouTube tutorials, poring over forum threads, and combing through Google’s so-called solutions. None of it made the slightest difference. I’ve used Malwarebytes for three years without a hitch, but this relentless, soul-crushing loop is beyond anything I’ve experienced. I’m stuck in a maddening cycle: delete, redownload, repeat—each time hoping for a resolution that never comes. The sheer futility of it all is exhausting, and I’m left wondering if anyone at Google or Malwarebytes even realizes how absurdly broken this has become.
I picked one star as there is no instruction on how to add. When I select the upload all it says next is to uninstall in Chrome. Not helpful, just annoying.
It always blocks ads and trackers, even though I disabled them. I only use it for malware protection. I use uBlock Origin for ads and trackers, but running 2 ad blockers slows down the browser. It also causes issues. This issue has existed for a very long time and still hasn't been fixed. Can you please fix this, it gets annoying and slows down the loading speed of the websites.
This progam just reported that Amazon had a security breach November 25th, its not even the 25th an after a google search Amazon has had no Security breaches, i no longer trust this application or suggest anyone use it.
Too complicated to install. Bad directions.
Rarely works properly. I can't add sites to an allow list.
its blocking my own website?? trksyln.net
very bad
It keeps blocking links (false positive) even though "All Protection Settings" toggle is off. The only way to open them is by completely disabling the extension from browser settings
Used to be good, now useless.. asking me for "enchanted protection" to copy my data
its just blocking me from downloading code i put out there. and not letting me add an exclusion because it says the site address is not valid. so the only way to turn this off is to uninstall it? ok, done.
pishing detection is really bad, the button to save a website as trusted wont work
There is no way to allow movie streaming with Paramount Plus unless you disable the extension. Giving permission to Paramount Plus does not do the job
Terrible service. Tried to sign up and it was through google. However,I did receive a verification code and I was initially charged for the trial. They put the onus on you but they don't seem to care if you are concerned about canceling. Waiting to see if a charge hits after the seven days. They also deflect legal responsibility. In California, a simple cancelation process is required.
Hi. As of recently Malwarebytes do the following: On every site when I copy some plain text I get a popup that says: "(name of the website) wants to see text and messages copied to the clipboard" with "allow" and "block" buttons. Of course, I block it. It copies normally when blocked so why would a website ask for such a permission (EVERY website) ? In addition I get an icon of a crossed out clipboard in the right corner of the search bar . Occasionally, on any site including a board where I do a lot of copying and pasting the warning popup "did you just copy something" appears. When I try to paste it the pasted text is [⚠Suspicious content]. I have to disable the extension and refresh the page to perform the action. When I turn the extension back on the issue goes away. On the aforementioned board it only happens once in a few days and it goes away immediately after turning the extension off/on. It looks like some bug but it's pretty disturbing because I keep thinking I'm hacked. ESET scan finds no malware.
"Due to an update or newly added extension, Chrome has reached its limit of built-in active rules. This has resulted in Chrome disabling extension filters. " That's the messaging and it goes on to add that it's due to MV3 which has resulted in effective adblockers being removed from the store. The extension won't keep your settings despite making the changes. It's incredibly annoying. It's becoming slower and slower with each update. There's noticeable lag in Chrome. The adblocker is rather pathetic. The jury is still out on Malwarebytes' extension effectiveness against malware when used without the full (paid) PC installation. Uninstalled.
Breaks Notifications API as websites can't request for permission!
With Standard Preloading on, not Extended, I get the phishing issue others are experiencing with Google search. A simple search redirects it to a page that the extension then blocks.
In general, it partially performs its function. But with some search queries (searching for a movie in my language) - it automatically redirects from the search page to a specific site. This happens only if this extension is enabled. So it partially performs the function of a malicious program - advertising. Which is why it cannot be a protection program
THIS IS A PHISHING EXTENSION, I AM SURPRISED TO DISCOVER THEY BASICALLY MAKE YOU HOSTILE BY BLOCKING THE ORIGINAL WEBSITE AND ALLOWING THE PHISHING ONES. THEY ALSO BLOCKED FEW WEBSITES WHICH WERE SAFE AND ADDED THEM IN LIST OF BLOCKED BY EXTENSION, BUT WHEN YOU TRY TO REMOVE THEM FROM MALWARE BYTES BLOCK LIST THEY DON'T SHOW, HAHA THEY ARE MAKING A RANSOM MONEY LATER BY ASKING TO GO FOR PREMIUM IN CASE YOU WISH TO UNBLOCK THE SET OF WEBSITE THEY BLOCKED. VERY CLEVER YET SHAME ON YOU FRAUDSTERS.
Never had a problem until recently. I was searching up a random search, did not even have a website in the name, and when it went to show me the search results, Malwarebytes instantly redirected me to a phishing website, then blocked it when I should've just been looking at google search results. I decided to look up the website it was blocking me from (STILL, just on google) and it did the same thing. It took me literal HOURS trying to figure out if I had a virus until I ended up uninstalling google completely, reinstalling it, and the same issue. This was my only browser extension and it was the thing blocking the phishing website, so I assumed it wasn't the issue. After coming on here and seeing the other reviews, I realized it was. I uninstalled the extension, looked up the same thing I had been, and no redirecting. Reinstalled, checked again, same issue I'd been having. Please, fix this. I spent hours thinking I had a virus and trying to scan my computer and lost a bunch of data I had saved on google due to this. It's not a browser hijacker, it's this extension.
The Go Back and Continue to this website buttons no longer work.
This extension redirects you to websites when you try to simply google something! I have spent the last 40 minutes testing, resetting scanning, googling, EVERYTHING, ... and now i just found out it's this extension ... omg! why would this extension cause redirecting to websites when googling something when this extension is supposed to HELP you with this lmao
This extension was causing major slow down and stuttering in Chrome for me, needs to fixed.
Most recent update makes this extension singlehandedly up Chrome's CPU usage by ~30%.
Your instructions make no sense to me re adding Malwarebytes Browser Guard
Does not work
Does not work anymore. Getting an error, Uh oh! Malwarebytes Browser Guard can’t work properly due to rule limits. Have no idea what this means. So, this will be deleted.
LAGS Scrolling Pages! If enable/disable this, scroll lag starts and stops! Fix Your Extension!
I am having the same problem! I will not click on this new setting to be able to use my computer. Time to find a new antivirus provider.
I'm going through the same problem as Timothy and Brian and its pissing me off. If this continues, I'm discontinuing further payments of malwarebytes.
I get popups now every few minutes advising me "Uh oh! Malwarebytes Browser Guard can’t work properly due to rule limits.". Nothing I set, save or remove stops it. What gives?!?!? I am about to remove the extension from Chrome.
Fix it! It's too annoying!
Remove extension and reinstall seems to have fixed the Chrome Manifest V3 limits issue/warning. 5 * to Steven Geymer for posting! 1* to Malwarebytes...
I loved the malware bytes extension until Chrome update rendered it useless. Please fix!
You guys gotta find a way to mediate this rule limits issue. The newest chrome update caused it but essentially my browsing is completely unprotected right now. Until it gets resolved there's no reason to have this on my PC but it worked insanely well before. I was more than satisfied.
I only say one thing, don't spend money on this, I'm paying for the service and being blatantly hacked, my data was stolen, I was notified by the bank because my personal data is on the dark web and when I look for support for this service I still have no solution!
Newest chrome update fkd it up
Why can't I get rid of the popup? I try to search for something this thing is blocking me. I can't turn it off.
did work great until Chrome update. now, Chrome won't allow it in my extensions. I think the problem really is all on Chrome though
In the latest version of Google Chrome, it causes a lag when scrolling pages, and Google Chrome's task manager shows abnormal usage of this extension, this was not the case in the previous version of this extension.
MWB browser guard interferes with certain websites dropdown. As soon as the I click the drop down to access, and move my cursor to do a selection, the drop down disappears. Initially I thought its a website fault but, only realised its not when I used a computer which did not had the browser guard. Now the website is fine once I removed the extension. But I have been using the MWB for a very long time, still using the premium software, which is fine. This rating is only for the web extension.
Just installed it on Brave. Complete garbage. Insanely high CPU usage when enabled. I'd show you a pic, but there's no option here to upload it here. Brave says it's using 15 instances at 0.4% CPU usage before enabling Browser Guard. Brave after enabling Browser Guard shows 33 instances used with 58.7% CPU usage. smh
This extension wasted months of my time by freezing, slowing down, and crashing my Chrome. Certain websites (e.g., Skool) were completely unusable, together with this extension, it would crash or totally freeze Chrome. Only once I discovered this extension was the culprit and disabled it was all the problems gone. There are severe performance and stability problems with this extension. The developers need to take this seriously and look into it. I didn't expect that from Malwarebytes.
On many websites, this Extension will close Drop Down Menus or floating ToolTip Messages or anything that's a floating DIV. You hover over a menu, it opens and after a second it closes. Does not happen when I disable this extension, so it's the cause.
Malwarebytes back at it again with the marketing scare tactics and poorly handling breach info
