Yeah so about that new "Save Tab Groups" feature. Ummm Just NO!! DO NOT TURN IT ON unless you like having your tab groups DUPLICATED EVERYTIME you close and re-launch your browser!!
Updated on its own and deleted every single bit of information. Whatโs the use if the extension decides on its own to delete your backups. Defeats its own purpose, completely useless.
session buddy import doesnt work
It cannot restore the session made by it just yesterday. It just won't import the session file. Any advise?
I used this extension to save some important tabs a couple of weeks ago. When I tried to open them again today, they were all gone. Really disappointed. I expected it to keep my saved tabs safe.
It does not provide settings for automatically deleting sessions that you have deleted from the X markup for browser tabs. I will correct reviews if it support that in the future.
I do not recommend adding it because all windows are deleted and this problem has not been solved for years.
THE WORST. Why: because your extension deletes all the groups, and you don't even notify the users about this issue! What happens is that we save our session hoping that we will have it again, with the groups (obviously). And you do not explain this before people press that 'save' button and close their browser. So what will happen when you reopen the browser again? Exactly! You'll have your big session with groups lost! Of course, because we all have time for reorganising it all, right? And you don't even have to inform the users of the issue of losing it, right? To be honest, this app doesn't even deserve 1 star. This thing isn't what should be called 'a session saver', because it simply does not save the session whole (which includes the groups too).
worked fine until it removed all my saved stuff. NEVER USE
Would give 0 stars if i could. This worked woderfully for years ad its saved many days of work and would have been lost tabs sessions windows across multiple devices browsers and profiles. It no longer works because you will set it up no matter how, and it will eventually completely stop working and not tell the user in any way shape or form that their last back up was sometimes 3, 6, or 18 months ago meaning the entire effort of setting it up and foolishly believing it was working fine for years so it should contiue to do so has all been a complete detriment which would have been time saved if not for all this bs. If the app is not consistent, if the app is not reliable, it does not work. I can never recommend google or its extensions now due to the frequent non stop updates from google half the time making multitudes of things worse and more work for everyone in exchange for a worse UI/UX because google believe themselves infallible somehow. Just pick another browser preferably something thats not chromium based?(firefox) Ive tried everything and its the same but worse usually short of firefox. Opera gx is more unusable and more resource intensive than chrome which is false advertising on their part. Most the time u look for opera gx support u 80% of the links or more are N/A as its specifically for opera non gx users. I wish you luck and pray you see this to avoid the folleys of man i mean code uh i mean google...
i've used this for years, it saved me so many times in the past... but today i went to use it after i screwed up and the last time it had an active session was from 2021, rendering this thing useless.
just remove this extension. it does not work. lost all sessions and no more sessions will be saved. And no change for serveral weeks or months. It seems its not maintained or serviced.
didnt see any open tabs
Just lost all my sessions randomly
This tool is a nihtmare! The worst UI/UX I've ever seen! ๐คฎ
This is not the first time all sessions have disappeared - it's so annoying!
it can lose all your sessions at any time
Extension may break with loss of all data at any moment. Extension may lose some of the saved sessions at any moment.
THIS EXTENSION IS BROKEN AND IS NOT BEING FIXED CRUCIAL BUG: Autosave session stopped workingn in early June https://github.com/sienori/Tab-Session-Manager/issues/1384 Auto saves session stops when limit is reach instead of overwriting old ones https://github.com/sienori/Tab-Session-Manager/issues/1367
Duplicates pinned tabs ad-nauseum with each reopen of chrome. Also duplicates windows with pinned tabs. Made a mess of my workspace within two uses.
Please don't use it , I lost all my saved tab sessions just by doing nothing than clicking the icon , it said extension may be corrupted , clicked on repair and nothing was recovered, lost EVERYTHING! stay out of this cr*p!
Autosave no longer seems to work
It doesn't open browser pages after restoration. You need to open every tab manually. Do not install it.
What a shame!! This worked for years on my Chromebook. Now, it doesn't;t auto-save, you can't export. My Chromebook rebooted by itself several times and none of my previous sessions show up on the list. I even paid donations several times. This extension is now completely unreliable.
Lost my last stored session..unreliable do not use!! Edit: Restore backup not working, I had backups on google drive, that is not working either...what a waste..
it works for a year, and then my pc blue screened 2 times on one day, after the second time the data of this extension just gone poof no trace even on the google drive it was unclear where it store it, and then it no longer works and doesnt save anything after the accident. sadge.
NOT RECOMMENDED. Using it for a while then suddenly all sessions are deleted after a normal computer reboot. Save Session function doesn't work at all, no response, nothing is export or saved.
Nice extension. Save your tabs easily to then at some point LOSE ALL YOUR saved tabs, because extension just deleted them :) . What worth such extension that you can't even rely on.
As a heavy user of tabs, I've been searching, for a way to reliably store tab sessions. Unfortunately, Tab Session Manager is not it, and is in fact a dangerous extension because it gives a false sense of security ... until it fails, which it does frequently. I would think that this should be a relatively easy task from a technical viewpoint, but to this date, I've found only two session managers that have never failed me. (Again, Tab Session Manager is not one of them.) During my trial of Tab Session Manager, my computer rebooted one day, and when I restarted my browser, all of the many sessions I had stored were gone without a trace. Initially, I blamed myself believing that I might have failed to save my session frequently enough, so tried again, making sure to frequently save my session. I subsequently had the experience, repeatedly, of saving dozens of sessions, only to have them all, every single one of them, disappear completely. It's incomprehensible to me how this extension could be written this incompetently. To my knowledge, the information page for Tab Session Manager doesn't even indicate where it stores session data, so it took me some time to track down where backups are stored. Unfortunately, this doesn't help, because under some conditions, which are reasonably common, Tab Session Manager completely corrupts the backup database, wiping out all of the data. (By the way, does anyone know why programmers will spend months writing a piece of software, and then not write documentation, and withhold essential information from users? I consider this totally incompetent.) I very strongly recommend that nobody use or support this unreliable, low quality extension. If you rely on it to store your sessions, you are putting yourself at risk of losing all of your session data, with no backup. I would report this dangerous and incompetent extension, and petition Google and Microsoft to have it removed from the extension store, but I don't know how to do that. If anyone knows how, please post this information in a review.
Normally, I would give this a 5 star rating, but I just found out the hard way that if you try to turn off sync in chrome, chrome deletes all of your extensions without warning and all data associated with them. This means all of my saved sessions are gone, because they aren't saved to a json file somewhere on my PC by default when I click save as. Why is this a thing? I didn't want to lose all my bookmarks, extensions, and sessions on my end just because I chose to not have Google ogling everything about my life. Pushing that turn sync off button is like deleting system32 on Windows 95. I had no idea. You literally watch the browser disembowel itself before your eyes, and I'm not exaggerating. All your extensions and bookmarks disappear one by one, like it is doing a full-on Raiders facemelt right before your eyes. Why is the default method of saving not the safest method but rather the most prone to exploding? All of my sessions are irrecoverably gone.
tabs names / urls NOT saving sequentially in the actual used order !
Not reliable. Previous sessions gone. Installed this a week ago. Was fine up until today when I started up my browser and all of my previous sessions (including my saved ones) were mysteriously wiped. So yah if you're planning on using this, you have to export every session because the saved sessions mean nothing. Now I have no way to recover my previous sessions unless I spend hours going through my entire search history.
WARNING - This Extension takes over your URLS and TABS and redirects them to some encrypted URL. When you remove this Extension they will kill all tabs and of you do store them, you will have their Encrypted/Redirects which Google BLOCKS as bad URLS. Never use or believe extensions when they manipulate your environment and use Redirects!
When I exported I assumed the file that came out as fine, apparently it's a "Folder Customization" when it's supposed to be a "JSON", so I just lost 600+ tabs with important information
Garbage. Doesn't work and sends out a million pop ups when you open the browser
I trusted this can handle my sessions and now i lost all my sessions, bye
As near as I can tell, this extension has a serious bug. If you try to delete a session by clicking the trash can icon, it seems to delete, not the session you clicked, but the oldest session. This is a serious enough bug that I think it's extremely irresponsible that this extension remains in the extension store, and the presence of extensions with these kinds of problems wastes the time of users and dilutes the extension ecosystem with garbage code. I strongly believe this should be removed from the extension store permanently. While the above problem disqualifies this extension, I'll toss out another good reason no one should use it. There is confusing terminology, with the terms "open" and "restore" confused. If you choose to "open" a session, then, without even bothering to ask for a confirmation, this extension loads all of the tabs in the session, which could mean hundreds or even thousands of tabs. How is the user expected to know this would happen, with the sloppy use of terminology and the lack of a confirmation? Again, I think this extension should not be used by anyone and should be permanently removed from the extension store.
Its crash, and all gone
relied on it for at least a year when I really needed it, the entire database vaporized, just gone, a year of records. I've lost over 1500 tabs thanks to this worthless thing. don't use it
will loose all tabs if remove the extension
just doesn't function outright. will not save sessions and the settings menu is completely blank.
Doesn't show any currently open tabs. What is there to manage?
Since some months, this extension creates a *very* high CPU load and Windows gets slow & sluggy.
Does not save actual tabs, only the urls in them. It means that their story is destroyed, and the Back button becomes disabled, while using something like History>Recently Closed preserves the Back button and actual tabs, for comparison.
I would like in the settings to not save pinned tabs. Or, when saving, I want to be able to choose whether to include them in the save. This extension has high memory usage.
Absolute garbage. Never works, folder disappears, tabs gone forever. Click icon - nothing. No troubleshooting, no useful website, nothing. Sync never worked. Don't waste your time. Try another option - hell even pen and paper would be better than this. Should pay us to use it.
when disable addon all tabs gone!
The favicons don't load after restart. The folder names erased by the extension. After removing the extension all groups are deleted. Crashed my hours work
It worked ok for awhile, but now it constantly crashes, doesn't save sessions at all and won't sync to google.
I installed it about 6 months ago, and thought I was protected. It shows up as "enabled" in my extensions, and it apparently just updated yesterday to the newest version, 6.8.1. I was really happy with it, right up until today - the first time I actually needed it. I had many tabs open in Chrome, when I had to close my browser. Normally, when you re-open Chrome, the first tab offers you the option of restoring your previous session. That didn't happen this time, but hey - no problem! That's why I installed Tab Session Manager! Except... I am unable to open Tab Session Manager. Apparently the only way to open the extension is to click on the icon, but - the icon is not here anymore. Doesn't exist. Not on the desktop, not on the toolbar, nowhere. It still shows up as "enabled" in my extensions, but I can't open it from there, so it's basically completely useless. Very, very disappointing. I guess I can't complain too much when something I got for free doesn't work, but I guess you get what you pay for, eh?
