OneTab

It just updated, and ALL the bookmarks inside the extension suddenly disappeared. And please, don't give excuses like “third-party cleaning software”... because I don't even use that software, and this happened while I was using the browser...This is one of those blunders, like when Microsoft releases a Windows update that causes errors.

I have lost a substantial amount of tabs when the One Tab extension was updated. I need those tabs most importantly as they regard a legal situation I am dealing with. What happened, why are all my previous tabs missing and what can I do to recover them? PLEASE ADVISE.

Not only do I not like the new version, but I DETEST the fact that it now pins itself to the front of my pinned tabs. WTH. I have the extension icon already placed to the right of my browser box. How do I stop that from happening?

I echo the other negative and critical comments. This new version sucks. It's crystal clear to me the majority of glazing reviews are from bots or affiliates. With my experience. I can't open up a single saved tab, the new version opens up all the tabs that saved previously. I have found 1.86 and using it instead and I found a way to prevent it from being updated. The developer ruined the extension and while they are trying to "improve" the latest version, just scrap it and give everyone version 1.86 back. That's an easy fix.

Since version 2.9, the link database disappears every 3 days. Shame!

New update just wiped out all my old saved tabs from the past few years.

SOS. I'm in an uncharted territory. Onetab toolbar briefly showed some prompt, I just ignored it , didn't even read it since I was busy, continued browsing as usual, couple of hours later I noticed Onetab looked different and thousands of my tabs are gone. In a rush of panic, I googled for ways to recover lost tabs and followed some instructions people say they used to successfuly recover. I tinkered with some files in browser appdata folder called chphlpgkkbolifaimnlloiipkdnihall and leveldb where according to reddit one tab allegedly stores data. I deleted the log file and renamed to log.old to just logs. It failed. Now all I have is copy of folder named lhphlpgkkbolifaimnlloiipkdnihall and I'm utterly confused. Then I suddenly remember onetab has page on google store and came here and followed steps user Artem Martynyuk wrote where I had to runchrome.runtime.reload();. still no avail. I feel like thhere should've been some kind of warning in advance to remind me to make back up of my files. Now what? Edit. I sent feedback on one-tab.com/feedback. Please reply

Lost lots of tabs going back years to an update which didn't ask me first - it just did. Nor has any export database feature. Bloody useless. Not reliable. AND no app data is accessible to back up from explorer due to the way these extensions are written and are incorporated into the browsers. The suggestion below doesn't work. As a developer you really should have a visible presence on screen of the data being migrated and have provided for it as a possibility.

I just lost a lot of important data to the latest update, never should've trusted this stupid extension with important stuff, I've now removed this trash from every device it was installed, thanks for nothing.

u were able to see more tabs in the old ui (text was smaller) and i cant see total number of tabs saved like before. new ui takes up unnecessary space

This is not first not second but third time i lost all my tabs now whith this new update ui sucks is more complicated less simple and full of bugs i had all 14k tabs and then computer restarted and everything gone! i got back up but not all dates arent synced and it will take forever

Poor Update. Do the develop team get that? You got even more worse rating than ever. Will that get you higher salary?

Used to like this a lot , but the NEW DESIGN is WORSE !!!! Would have been ok at least to give the option to use the old version at least, but i can't find such setting in Options. I will have to find a new extension now.. :(

I would have given them a zero if it was an option. They pushed out an update and all my saved tabs are gone! I tried their stupid fix and it doesn't work. Whoever allowed for this release should be let go. I am going to find and replace this extension with an alternative.

Please please please turn it back, it can't even function with my device anymore I had to open console and force it to spit my tabs out before it would do more than pop up an empty grey loading box The new design is crowded and overengineered, please please please make it usable I can barely see what I'm doing Attempting to scroll with a touchscreen throws around links and files randomly it can't even tell me how many total tabs it has saved you took the equivalent of a service dog and switched it for a puppy that's not even housetrained

where exactly did ALL my PREVIOUS Saved & organised Tabs Disappear to ???????? please put them back, I am trying to look a few of them up atm but it looks like they are deleted by you (?) please give them back Thanks

worst nightmare after recent update. all my old tabs were suddenly gone, lost like 3000 links in one click.. do better.highly recommend not using at all.

I really don't like the new design. What I liked before was that I could save ALL the open tabs to OneTab. ALL of them. Now it seems to only want to save the tabs that haven't already been saved--SOMEWHERE in all the those saved sessions... Let's see... which one was it? NO. I want to save ALL the tabs, not some of them. I want to be able to get all the pages open that I need to work on for a project, save them and then if I need to start another session some other time, I can easily open ALL of them just like they were before. But now, with this new design, I would have to go looking for those already saved tabs... Grrrrr!

it was perfect and then they ruined it with the design layout changes. they tried to address user feedback but i didnt want any changes. and now it is buggy and different. I can't go back to the old design :(

Was 5 stars, all the feature changes they made only made everything worse and made it useless

Dec 27/2025: Thankfully I keep a backup and despite the claims by the developer this latest version has significant changes, it's grossly inferior to version 1.86. And now, while I kept my original links, it no longer lists the date correctly after downgrading. The saved .txt file doesn't have the code it seems. Uninstalled and gone back to the "original". Oct 31/2025: Let me try again. Almighty Google deleted my previous review. BRING BACK ORIGINAL, not just make it look like the ORIGINAL. Developer needs to listen to real users. Extension has become absurdly complex. I've uninstalled the extension and posted elsewhere to avoid this extension. I'll check back in 6 months to see if the Developer has redesigned the extension back to it's original like the majority have requested.

Why it keep messed up the shortcut from the previous version...? Whenever I try to restore multiple tabs using hold `ctrl` key, the tabs will open in the current window but it doesn't remove it from the list. I already familiar with the previous configuration by holding `ctrl` key to open multiple tabs (in the background) and it will automatically remove the list for each selected tab list and the tab stays at OneTab. Is there any option for this or something I'm missing from the current settings? I already read them all but I don't find any solution in this case.

This extension is 100% a browswer hijacker and will constantly change your default search engine to Yahoo. Please avoid.

I am so mad. I had thousands of saved tabs disappear --- Years worth of study. Gone. I don't like this version at all.

Please bring back one click, no annoying, useless menu as the default behaviour. The new interface is unnecessary and unhelpful. Not having a setting to make the new trash go away is inexcusable.

The new update is unhelpful, and makes everything more complicated in unhelpful ways. Please revert back to the old version, I don't want to look for a replacement, but if you add this many small extra clicks/dropdowns just to use it, I will have to. Awful UX.

Please downgrade it, the new update is so confusing and not good previously it was working good and it was best plz make it as it was....

Latest update ruined the whole simplicity experience :( Refreshing all the time when i imported urls

The latest update is stupid as it requires too many steps to simply close all the tabs. I've used this for years and never had one problem. Now it's clunky and aggravating. Simplicity is a good thing.

I would give the newest version a -10 if i could, it TOTALLY SUCKS BALLS!!!!! Loses tabs constantly. Hey DEVS, IF IT ISNT BROKEN, DONT "FIX" it!!!!!

Edit: Most important: If you miss the simplicity just search for "keptab". One star for latest update. I use OT many years, but now I've got update with unwanted options - I never asked for like task list and bookmarks. The original extension was grate because minimal. Edit: It's even worse: where the heck is option to send to OT the pinned tabs? Tons of horrible options like in OneTab competitors, but lost simplicity. I'll switch to one of the github simple version after those years. Sad.

I choose to use OneTab because it was simple. The latest update looks interesting, but I believe it should have been posted as a new extension. Pins, notes, tasks, archival, ratings, folders, and more. The interface is now super busy compared to before. I'm sure some will like this but it's not an update, it's a different tool from what came before.

Bacially malware. Don't install! Hung my browser unresponsive at 100% CPU, then destoyed all ~2900 tabs I had. Excellent! I think I accidentally clicked something, but I'm not even sure. Why is there even a button that does that, let alone with a single, accidental click? What were you thinking? Have you never tested your garbage on anything over 100 tabs? In the extension's own "tab archive" UI, you can't even multi-select tabs for deletion or whatever. Again, who is this for? Users who only ever have to deal with 10 tabs? Developers of this garbage should be ashamed of themselves

worst update, hard to use, bring back the older one any how.

Everything work nicely until one day it crushes, then you lose all your data. It has happened 3 times for the past 6 years, taken away thousands of my tabs, I can trust it no longer.

I used to love this for its simplicity. Now it's just a huge mess with lots of options that only clutter the interface. Deleting a tab group I saved? It used to be one click. Now it's who knows how many, and to even find simple operations like this is a nightmare. Why do you break things that work flawlessly?! It has to WORK, not look pretty! Bring back the old version without any of this new clutter - now!

If it ain't broken, don't fix it. It used to be so simple and worked flawlessly. Now they've updated it so that there's a popup when you click on the OneTab icon and it freezes my entire browser when I attempt to store all tabs in the current window to OneTab. It was so good while it lasted.

If you're going to change a major behavior of you app, why not configure it to conform to the behavior that everyone is used to? I would rather never them have updated the extension, this is a tool not an aesthetic experience

Not happy! "If it ain't broke don't fix it" comes to mind... Update is not compatible with Marvellous Suspender, rendering OneTab completely useless. Smart people do stupid things sometimes, case and point here. FIX IT! You had a good thing going.
