BetterCanvas - 10/10 BetterCampus - 0/10 The new update is so bad, the GPA calculator is so so wrong and overly complicated, you used to be able to just input your current GPA and credits. I tried uploading my transcript, entering grades/semesters manually and the GPA calculator on the dashboard is STILL. wrong. The GPA page shows current - 3.71 cumulative - 3.72, despite this my dashboard shows 3.83 for both. The themes and theme editing is complicated as well, I especially miss the old card color themes. Not to mention all my previously saved themes are gone. The new premium features?????? The previous UI was easy to navigate and understand, I was a fan and recommended it to my classmates often. The new update has really wrecked my dashboard and I'm considering seeking alternatives or just bearing the standard campus appearance. Wish I could go back to the old UI, would even consider paying for it at this point

I previously used Better Canvas, loved it, and thought I'd update to this one, but unfortunately am not enjoying it so far. It's not very intuitive and is frustrating to set up. I want to find a way where I can just change the Canvas card images without changing all the other things like font, colors, etc. For instance, changing the header color also changes a bunch of other things (and not the ones you expect). When I implement a new theme, it changes everything on my Canvas as well and doesn't allow me to revert back to just the OG Canvas. This upgrade feels like it's making the simplest things so much harder to do.

Was on the version and now I really wish I could go back to BetterCanvas this new "BetterCampus" is just so gimicky and convoluted, I miss when it was just a small extension without all this paywall junk and ai bs. The colour coding tabs also dont work anymore. 90% of the features I dont even use, they just made it worse and a cash grab. I only use this cause i cant stand the canvas lightmode. The developers have really ruined such a beautiful thing.

No way to change gpa to quarterly instead of whole year, stresses me out

Pre revamp: 10/10 Post revamp: 2/10 Got the job done (past tense). this extension really went downhill. I try to give it time for redemption but it's not looking good. Things I like: dark theme, card grades, some other minor dashboard things Things I hate: Account required for most things, popup is in website only and uses more resources and takes up the entire page, a lot of features that are clogging up space and resources, themes are paid, everything is paid. The subscription is so expensive too coming in at 12-20$ per month. shoving AI into stuff won't fix it. This is trying to be more than what it needed to, so I will be forking this and making a better version since there are still remnants of open source from the better old version

Updating the entire thing in the middle of the semester for students was a horrible choice. Not only is the new update incredibly bad but no student wants to have to redo their entire Canvas setup in the middle of a semester.

MAIN REASON: Somehow changed all my websites to a terrible darkmode?? and i couldn't read text on any websites for a while because it was just black background against gray text I can't believe the extension was the issue. It took forever to figure out, I didn't think an extension for just canvas could mess up every other site. Be careful!! OTHER REASONS: Used to be really good but then they added a bunch of UI that's weird to navigate like the window looks like it's movable but it's not so if you open it over your classes you can't see what theme you chose. You now have to make an account?! That wasn't there before and they limited it so you can't use a bunch of themes. Honestly sucks because it used to be good and have no issues.

I loved BetterCanvas but the update makes things so difficult to use T-T I do appreciate all the helpful features and I'm sure other students may benefit from them.... but I wish there was an option to use the prior version. I was able to quickly customize my cards, have a functional and eye-pleasing layout, and effectively access all my courses. Now it seems like a feature overhaul. Please give us the option to revert!

This recent update is a massive disappointment. Part of what I enjoyed about BetterCanvas was its simplicity, and this overhaul completely does away with that. This extension is now full of bloat, as well as a tacky paid subscription. Not only is this update mostly a downgrade, but it also makes Canvas nearly unusable in smaller windows, leading me to disable this extension completely. I wish this update would either be reverted, or we were given an option to use the old BetterCanvas. This is very unfortunate.

What is this update!!! please bring back the old version. now you have to pay much less all of my themes are gone. I'm actually devastated i loved better canvas as it made canvas bearable now i cant handle this update.

I liked the old one, and I had SEVERAL themes that I had personally made for myself that are all gone now. I am a student in undergrad with an undergrad budget -- there is nothing on BetterCampus that I think is worth spending my already limited money on. Upgrading the UI might have been worth it for me if it didn't get rid of themes that I had made for my own personal use. And before someone says that I should have send them to be evaluated and published, they left me stalled for MONTHS on one that I did try to do that with (for a popular media that I had not even seen a theme for that character of). Very disappointed because I had over a years worth of my own themes saved on there for holidays, games that I enjoy and no one else has published, and ones that I even put together for my friends. ETA: And only having so many free swaps a week and creations a month? I won't even be in school long enough to recreate all of the themes I had and liked. Seriously? Not everything needs to be a cash grab or a side hustle.

I want back better canvas it was way better than whatever this is and even easier. If you are gonna update something, the past information and settings and all should transfer over along with a choice with whichever version you want. Now I have to set up everything again.

Has some flagrant issues; otherwise an indispensable extension that's superior to regular Canvas in every metric. Issues that must be fixed though - extension downloadable for MS Edge and Brave - support for syncing with calendar; currently I am stuck on a loading screen for both my browsers and price says "$NaN/month" - smoother interface...extremely laggy and slow when navigating Overall an amazing extension, but the lack of support for other browsers, specifically with regard to GCal/MS Cal settings, restricts it from receiving 5-stars from me.

Holy smokes the default graphic design choices when making a custom theme are appalling. I tend to like a white background on Canvas. Unfortunately, when making a theme like that, the shadows when you hover on a card are incredibly sharp and unnatural looking. The shadow intensity should be customizable. Also, why does the entire box darken to nearly black when hovering over an item in "modules"? And why can't we customize the roundness of the big ugly borders in the modules section to begin with?

I downloaded, uninstalled, it reinstalled it over 5 times, as well as clearing my cache and restarting my mac, and nothing is working! It updates my canvas to the "better canvas" version then disappears after 2 seconds then I get a message saying "head to Canvas to activate" when I am in my canvas! I have also updated the extension using your link!

it was ok at first, but it logged me out of my account and now I can't log back in. and I've tried to sign up with a different accounts but it doesn't work like at all.

i have downloaded this, uninstalled and downloaded again, it either does nothing, or i get a message saying head to canvas to activate when my canvas is open. Any help would be appreciated

EDIT: I found out recently that better campus doesn't work with well with macbook which is what I use so if your experiencing similar problems its likely also having to do with your type of laptop! Ive recently downloaded this extension and in the beginning it was working perfectly fine. It was showing me my assignments, announcements, and I was able to change the theme to my liking. Even going as far as spending hours to create my own personal theme. Problems started to occur when I had opened another canvas tab and it hadn't loaded and showed up as the set canvas default. I first tried clicking the extension only for it to say "Head to Canvas to activate BetterCampus!". I tried opening another canvas tab and sit nothing. I was like okay fine whatever let me delete it and redownload it and see if that works. It began working slightly because now I can at least see the font changes, color changes and the background but my cards aren't working, and none of the other features like the to-dos are working. I tried over and over again but nothing and another problem was that the minute I clicked one of my classes the entire theme would just go away and reset back to canvas default. Its currently on version 8.0.1 and I don't know what else to do to fix it this app seems to have great potential but these bugs that are happening completely ruin the main features.

the new overhaul has introduced friction with this new update, which i find uncessasary. the paywalls are annoying, the ui is obnoxious and in your face, and it's just overall a worse user experience. i understand what the developers were going for, but most people just want to change colors and add some custom card images

when it turned to bettercampus it got bad i would not use this anymore. its extremely confusing and does not do everything it used to.

the update to bettercampus has ruined the extension. they now offer payment options but the card pictures don't apply consistently anymore. am i paying for a downgrade?

I've been having trouble opening the extension. I cleared my cashe, uninstalled, and even hard reset my web browser and it is still not opening.

When I download it to my chrome app it will not let me open the extension.

Please bring back the old BetterCanvas, I just want to change my canvas card photos without changing everything. Also it is harder to use now, the old one was more straightforward. Every time I create a theme, something is off and I can't fix it and now I don't even have any "remixes" :| Or it would be nice to add an update so we don't have to create a new theme to just change the card photos. I don't want to customize everything I just want to customize the card and the cards only. Whenever I try to make a theme and to just change the cards, it changes other things automatically, for example the side bar and text colors. There is also a small little bug when I am looking at slideshows (not in fullscreen) and it gets rid of the top bar that shows us the page we're on, to zoom in/out, and to make it full screen. I have to refresh the page to get it back which loses my slide position. Please bring back the old version for people who prefer that one please.

the new update is god awful

I used this extension for months with no problems, but this new update makes it unusable. It disappeared from my extensions completely and when i got it back under the name "Better Campus" i cannot use it. I cant click on it or customize anything, and my canvas looks like i have no extensions. I'm very disappointed in this because i loved how my canvas looked before with the task wheel and stuff, but now i cannot use any of it. Please bring back the older version, I see a lot of other users complaining about it too.

they turned a perfectly fine extension for improving canvas into a bad study tool no one asked for just so they can advertise premium features that no one asked for. its literally unusable now. and they keep saying theyre fixing it, just release the original as a separate extension.

Loved the old version. Now the new version refuses to let me just use my default Canvas color overlays and adds an extra to-do list instead of modifying the existing to-do list. I really want to like it, but I can't :( I just want the simple features of the old one back.

Would rate higher, but the site is injecting an a5 opacity reduction code after all of the colors I input, and everytime I reach out about it they tell me to "disable the high contrast UI" on canvas, which is already disabled. Also, you should be able to disable grades and studying and all of this extra stuff. I don't want my canvas clogged with even more buttons I will never use (Ex: all of the "go to better campus grades, etc. buttons), its already bad enough as is. The newer update honestly ruined this extension, they should have never added all of this extra stuff. People download this extention to make the website look better, that's it. There are way better extentions out there for tasks and grad calculations no one uses better campus for this.

Ive had this extension for a while and the new update is absolutely terrible. It used to be a fun way to customize your canvas page but now its just a cash grab with confusing features that no one asked for. Terrible extension, just use normal canvas

This extentsion used to be useful and cool, now everything is behind a paywall and confusing as heck. Normal canvas is just better at this point.

Why do I have to pay to switch themes/make my own hello? I do not care if it's 1 dollar or 99 cents. NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE A SUBSCRIPTION.

This was good when it was Better Canvas. Now it sucks. Complicated, features in the wrong places, additions nobody asked for, and of course now you have to create an account to do the things you used to be able to do without one. Way to go.

Please let me change it back to the old version

The new extension is not that good and really more complicated than it should be. The older version was more easy and efficient to customize canvas for school which made it nice for taking my online classes, but now it's quite buggy and also not user friendly. I really really dislike this new update and think they downgraded with their layout of the extension. They shouldn't have changed what was already good and should fix this issue

I’ve been using this extension for years now and loved the old interface. The old version stopped loading so I was forced to reinstall it, only to find a completely new layout. Also for some reason, my overlay disappears with the update and I use overlays instead of themes. I honestly prefer previous version. I wish there was a way to use the older version for those who want it.

The new update ruined this extension. Completely removed the simplicity and ease of how it used to work. Removed the simplified to-do list that came with the old BetterCanvas, so you're stuck with the bulky new one. Removed the simple pull-down menu that opened when clicking the extension and instead replaced it with a terribly slow full screen overlay. Everything feels so bloated now with widgets and tools that frankly are really not needed in Canvas when they can be opened in a separate tab. BetterCanvas refined the already existing Canvas, and tuned a couple of things that made it more enjoyable to use and easier to navigate. Now, it's back to square one and honestly worse than just not having the extension in the first place. I feel like more than 90% of the stuff that got added was not needed or request to be added by a majority of people, and were only added to get you to make an account and push their paid options. I never used the theme feature, but limiting it to only 3 theme changes a week, and pay walling some themes when the main reason many installed BetterCanvas in the first place because of the themes is not great. If you're looking to make Canvas simpler and easier to use, it's not this; you're better off with the original Canvas experience. *Editing my review because I forgot to mention this, but there is also AI built into this stupid extension now. As if there isn't enough AI in everything else. Screw this horrible extension.

I have no idea what this new update is, but it sucks. Lost a customer. Also an FYI it deleted all of my posted themes, that I now cannot get back, so thanks for that. If you get my themes back maybe I will reconsider. Horrible update, better off leaving the app alone!
