they are consently trying to get me to leave a review so I have a little tap on my page blocking my conent and making it hard to read. the speach to text is also not good.

Just do not work for non English. Never heard a word just keeps on popping up windows to ask subscribtion or play button does nothnig

i have to say its just here to take your money. fake bloated reviews. theres an extension called text speaker. that wors the same without signin. get that its easier to setup and works better and more concisely

It was good at the beginning but now everything it reads anything it just lags and spins, it reads a sentence then it lags for a while just spinning.

Free to use but the default voices are terrible and so the good ones you have to pay for, they dont even give one free good one, so its a rip off and its expensive, all I want is my browser data to be read out load with a decent voice, that should be free to begin with!

this program keeps not working for me, i cancel then later they advertise how easy it is to use on the adds, but it doesn't work that way either.

Speechify AI Assistant's reply to me asking it to read a webpage: "I can't read pages directly, but if you share the text or key points from the page, I can help summarize, explain, or answer any questions you have about it!" So y'all just lied, huh?

How does this thing work I can't get it to do a damn thing and of course there's nothing to tell you how to use the thing so very helpful awesome

It has a lot of great features, but it now requires you to create and account to use it, and many of the features are paywalled. Now that the latest Chrome update has a new and improved reading mode that supports text to speech, I no longer need this extension, so I have uninstalled it.

Very annoying onboarding process that tries to upsell you to the annual version.

Skips 95% of the necessary texts on most websites. poor text identification algo.

Jan 16 and 17, 2026, no longer worked on Chrome website (not functional for reading the website content any more, ANY website), I tried for different webpages, many of which were totally fine to listen a couple of days ago are now NOT compatible with this extension. Same with Edge. I use MAC laptop and updated it recently, Hi speechify team please check if this extension still works!

As a subscriber for over 3 years, I’ve noticed that the extension doesn’t work on Perplexity.com Comet browser. Additionally, as of today, January 16, 2026, with the recent update to the Google Chrome browser(Version 144.0.7559.60)mac, this extension no longer responds or functions.

was working fine but then last month it started using more cpu. now it wont load the extension. it says its there but i cant get any tools on screen to actually play/read text. Without the extension its useless to me

It will never work properly even If you know lots about the damn stupid thing.

Constantly running in the background using CPU when not being used. Something is fishy here.

Stopped working after a day

Speechify is a great tool when it actually works, but unfortunately, that's becoming rarer for me. I use it on my phone and two PCs. The mobile app performs reliably without issues, but the PC version for chrome is consistently problematic: Logging in is extremely unreliable. It often fails repeatedly or takes forever. Even when login succeeds, the app frequently reports that it "can't see text on screen," preventing any text-to-speech functionality. I've spent significant time troubleshooting with Speechify support, following their suggestions, but nothing has resolved these problems. Most critically, I currently can't even access my account to manage or cancel my subscription. As of this writing (December 30, 2025), the login has been stuck "trying to log in" for over two hours. This level of instability on desktop, combined with unresponsive account access, makes the service unusable for me despite paying for premium. I'd appreciate a real fix or assistance but support wasn't helpful at all last i tried.

asks me to review after pausing every time, the 5 page limit is i understand a good driver for someone to subscribe but really lowers its usability for me. some times it doesn't even work re launching and pressing play still wont make it work so i have to uninstall the extension and reinstall once a weak. it cant read pdfs but there other extensions that can so now you have to take a screen shot wich granted isnt that big of a hindrance but seriously it cant be that hard to get it to read pdf's natively. BUT credit were credit is due this is the most sleek integrated and mature reading extension you can get so until other apps wich are more reliable feature rich lock in and make there apps less child like this is honestly the best extension so i reluctantly use it

Got suckered. They baited me into thinking I could use Snoop Dog as the voice, then they switched me to a robot voice from the 80s. wow

Useless. Downloaded to find out it is not working with other languages and not free. No disclosure of limitations.

Horrible experience, Speechify fraudulently charged my credit card after I cancelled my subscription and never responded to my email asking for a refund and asking them to make sure my subscription was actually cancelled. They then tried to charge my card again (luckily that card was no longer active), they responded to my email this time but are refusing to provide a refund for the payment they mistakenly processed after I cancelled, even though I contacted them within the timeframe listed on their refund policy.

The product itself is good (reading text as audio) but unfortunately the sign up, subscription and account settings flows are dumpster fires that made me lose faith and not want to trust them with my money. First of all, despite already having an account, I can't just sign in. Every time I visit the site they make me go through this asinine "preferences" flow as though I am a first time user. Then, despite there being an advertised monthly rate, when I go to checkout, I am only offered an annual subscription rate. And that's when I can even get to the checkout (half the time the extension just won't respond). At the subscription menu I was also offered a "365 day free trial" using the Paypal option, that suddenly turned into a $104 today with auto-renew for $135/year at checkout... I could go on. Then I tried to contact support, but surprise, was redirected to pay the annual fee to get access to "premium fast support"... Seriously, this is just anti-pattern after anti-pattern. I wanted to give you my money, but now I won't. Get it together. If you can't create a sensible sign up and subscription flow, I don't trust you with my money on an auto-renewing service. If it's this hard, opaque, and chock full of scammy anti-patterns just trying to sign up, I don't even want to know what the off-ramps look like.

Do not get it is a waste of time. they go through this big long process of adjusting it to your preferences. When you got to actually use it it tells you that in order to have HD voices you have to have premium. The only non-HD voices are the basic google translate voices. Would give 0 stars.

Its a great app that has become too expensive. I have shared the link with friends and despite of them purchasing I didn't receive any discount, it has become a total scam. Free voice is a joke. I doubt I will pay to extend my use, looking for a replacement that is less greedy

In the first seconds of the video there is information that it is a free extension, and after installation the first thing that hits you is the information about payments.

The absolute first thing it does it force you to create an account. The next thing is to ask you to subscribe to a premium service (because there are no voices). Most other TTS extension manages to work fine out of the box with all the free voices out there.

they give you the gay af 1999 robo voice for free... if you want the cool voices its $125 a year. Blow me!

Didn't remember the voice I chose. In fact, I think it did; I think it must be that to use this you must take the free trial and then pay for the rest of your life with recurring billing. Also, it only reads web pages it seems. No very good at all. Far better tools are available for free (forever) on Github. I suggest you avoid and research something free.

I love speechify, it helped me get my book ready for audio production but for the past month I have had nothing but problems, I see a lot of new features but then nothing works especially on google docs. Speechify see this and tell me what is going on if it is growing pains from new features cool, but the lack of support and communication is frustrating. If it starts to get better I will change the review but for now it is almost unusable. For those reading this I have listened to over 500 hours of audio with it and the bugs are a new thing.

Either pay CA$189.00/year or listen to Windows XP Microsoft Sam read to you. Some reviews are also painfully fake as so many 5 star reviews all have professional self-portraits and perfectly formated names.
