Really hard to use. I browsed all the corners of this extension and couldn't find where to add the reference to my library. Instead of letting you directly add reference to the library, this extension lists unnecessary functions on the click panel. I don't need another search engine here. You need to know the position and major funtion or service of your software, it is a reference manager instead of a search engine

Miserable downgrade from Capture Reference tool, absolutely non-functional for non-academic websites (something the previous Capture Reference tool could reliably do for *years*)

Having used Zotero, this has got to be the worst reference management tool alive. it seems to only be set to reference academic sources. well if you want to reference non-academic sources, you'll have to do it manually. I wish I could go back to Zotero, it is so easy to use and accessible. Unfortunately, my university only subscribes to EndNote, and I can't afford to pay for a subscription to Zotero.

I had been using EndNote X7 for years, after having painstakingly learned all of its quirks and using is reasonably stably with MS Word. I was now enticed by my students to use EndNote online. The last 3 hours have been an exercise in futility... 1. I recall trying to use EndNote online for Word in 2008 (version of that year). It never worked well, so I went back to EndNote desktop. 2. I thought bugs would have been fixed by now. EndNote for MS Word (2019) still does not work... It gives me an error message "Class not recognized." - I have no idea what it means. And on and on...

This tool only activates itself for about 70% of my references. And approximately 90% of those have errors that ruin the in-paper bibliography and require hours of editing to fix. Just use Zotero instead. Their tool works 100x better. It's also free. Ohh, and yes, they have a built in bibliography builder add-ins for both Word and Google Docs. I was forced into EndNote for a work-related task and it's been nothing but pain and lost work hours. I'm just going to continue using Zotero and then import its library over for my collaborators.

What is its purpose? Am I to understand then that EndNote does not have any simple way to save web articles to my references? It looks like they did previously. The advice I am seeing is I need to use another reference manager with its browser extension (e.g. Zotero), export the citations and then import them into EndNote... Are they trying to kill their own product? I will try their cloud service - if it is also limited in many ways, then Zotero it is and I'll be wary of wasting more precious hours every time I see the Clarivate brand.

Maybe I am doing something wrong but it is very complicated and not user friendly. The extension does not save the needed documents and information when clicked. It only directs you to log in or browser of google scholar. Other extensions are very easy and not complicated at all.

Disappointed. Maybe I just read it wrong, I thought this would help with my research so I could find ways to extract the citation details for papers and I was using, saving me the endless process of having to search details and manually enter everything. Instead, it just opens a search function to find papers on google scholar.... Its a glorified bookmark... only one that makes you log in, tracks everything you do and takes up chome resources to be there. Endnote desktop version is great at inserting references in my papers (as long as I'm able to painstakingly type out all the details for them ahead of time) but this search bar function seems incredibly redundant. This opens google scholar. Which actually means since I'm not logging in through my library, a lot of articles are no longer available to me. Then, when I can finally get one that I can open, instead of clicking one button and opening the pdf, I can click the endnote button.... and open the pdf....?? Same amount of steps. Same outcome. Same everything. Except the original site had a button I could download the citation to enter directly to my desktop version of endnote with a single click. This gives me a clipboard that is not compatible with its own desktop client, forcing me to now manually enter the details....

Doesn't sync to my Endnote Desktop, and I have to disable it for chrome to function well, as most other reviews have mentioned. Needs to be fixed.

Just terrible.... So inconvenient. If I could give any less than one star - I would. The worst reference management tool

Yeah, this stupid extension was causing websites to be unusable, especially Google docs/slides. Literally bricked my browser; constant "unresponsive page" issues. Disabling it instantly fixed the problem. Easiest uninstall of my life.

★☆☆☆☆2024-02-23

I've noticed over the past few months that various websites were taking longer and longer to load. It got to the point where Google Cloud Platform was rendered nearly useless, taking 30 seconds or even minutes to load simple clicks. Typing into text fields was also very delayed. After getting so fed up with this experience and not knowing the source, I tried disabling extensions one by one and discovered this extension to be the problem. After disabling, my internet browsing experience has completely returned to normal. There must be a bug in the extension that is seriously bogging down on loading web pages.

Gmail was severely lagging; after much troubleshooting, turned off each extension one-by-one. It ended up being this extension that was causing the problem! Good thing I never use it

It's literally the dumbest citation plugin ever. It seems to get dumber every version. It can't even cite a github.

Used to work, now seems glitchy and worst of all, slows down gmail to the point of not being usable.

i have to rate such a low score to it,,, for it's doesn't work at all. it won't refresh itself coordinating with the website, which makes it absolutely useless. hope it can become a efficency promotor in future

Yellow banner with wrong message. I have already use v2.2.3, but when I open locker, a yellow banner shows "Please click here to update your EndNote Click plugin to version 0.10.9sh". This have already existed for a long time. How to cancle this?

This used to be a very useful tool but ever since the EndNote rebranding, it is garbage. I appreciated being logged in automatically to my accounts so I can get past paywalls easily but now instead of refreshing the page to show full articles, you are forced to view everything in their viewer. Their viewer does not provide any benefits to me but does come with annoyances. I'll stick to just logging myself in now. The biggest flaw is the forced logo in the lower left hand side of EVERY page the extension thinks you MIGHT want to use it for. This means that if you use anything NCBI at all, you are forced to watch the distracting "loading" icon, where the wheel spins and spins endlessly. Since a lot of NCBI is not just reading articles but actually using their databases, there is nothing to "log in" to and no reason anyone would want to use this extension. Since I can't turn off the annoying logo showing up everywhere associated with NCBI, I can no longer use this. This used to be a very simple extension that just simplified the credential log-in process, but now it just feels like it has been re-tooled into a way to try and convince you to use Endnote's other services. I will be removing this extension and just logging myself in from now on until I can find something that does what this used to and nothing more when I didn't ask it to.

Endless problems since it changed to Endnote from Kopernio. Honestly, this should't even still have the ratings from Kopernio. I have not been able to open a PDF using this extension in weeks. Ever time I get that the PDF is corrupt and so nothing ever loads.

Annoying popup asking to allow integration, which cannot be disabled. Faulty integration - it fails to authenticate with my university's proxy, and then again keeps asking again and again to do integration.

Still no way to automatically import PDFs into Endnote. Thought this would do it. Zotero has a Chrome extension where you click a button in Chrome and it saves the PDF and reference to Zotero. ONE CLICK. Why can't Endnote do that? The only reason I use Endnote is because my boss requires it. Otherwise I wouldn't bother. Incredibly difficult to import references to Endnote, not worth my time.

This couldn't download the example pdf it directed me to. It made my chrome browser stop working and did not allow me to access developer tools while it was added. This release seems to be a pile of hot garbage.

Useful, but has a common bug where I log in but the plugin doesn't seem to register that so I cannot save any of the papers. Until that mechanism works consistently it is just a really difficulty plugin to deal with.

When it works it's great but approx 2/3 papers will simply fail to load in the pdf viewer, claiming "Message: Something went wrong trying to render the PDF. This error has been logged and will be fixed soon.".... Still waiting for that fix EndNote

Good app, but bugged for some times. I have been unable to push reference to myendnoteweb account since a few weeks/months. When trying to connect via the extension, I receive the following error message: RequestUtils.fetch error: 403 Friends experience the same problem.

Absolutely no point to having this extension when you can just use the google scholar extension. All this one does is search scholar from what I can tell, which the google scholar extension does too but much better, showing results in the extension including links to export the citation to endnote.

★★☆☆☆2023-09-21
Julia Dunn

The extension behaves inconsistently to the point where it is more time consuming to use it than to export the citation and download the pdf on my own. The citation button at the bottom left of the screen rarely appears, and then when it does appear sometimes I receive a page with an error about downloading the PDF. If I close the error page and click the citation button again it will ask me to complete a captcha. I am unsure why or when this verification will occur. Eventually, if the new page can be accessed with the pdf available, sometimes it will export to desktop with the pdf, other times without. The inconsistency of the behavior of the product makes it undesirable to use and offers little to no benefit over the built in citation export tools on journal websites.

Not bad in terms of a stand-alone store. But doesn't connect to the EndNote Desktop setup. I had downloaded this extension to Chrome first, and hit a limit on the number of pdfs one can save. When I tried to then install and use the Desktop version for further use, found out that these 2 products don't talk to each other as I was forced to have different accounts for both. Moreover, this product doesn't have an option to download all PDFs in one go, which one could simply import into the Desktop version (irrespective of the account issue). Neither was I able to extract the locked contents as a library, that gets picked up by the Desktop version. Just having a Clarivate label doesn't mean that this syncs with other Clarivate products, and that was a disappointment.
