This reverts to a paid for service, which is not obvious when looking at the extension for the first time.
They don't tell you it costs money until you try to play something. Just a few years ago this was FREE. Greedy bastards don't deserve my money.
Pressed play, and they want my money, everything wants money, just 3 years ago I could get 10 of these for free.
It was perfect, the best TTS extension I'd found until now. It just suddenly stopped working. On every site, every language, every voice option. It doesn't load anymore and won't read anything... Not sure if the issue is mine or the extension's but it'd be a shame to have to look for a differnt TTS. I really liked this one.
Have to pay for everything
Won't authenticate after purchase. Another trash extension that makes you pay after 2 days. Not about accessibility, about stealing money from disabled people.
By default there are no AI voices. Not even a free trial without entering your payment details. This extension also logged me in to https://onlineapp.pro/ automatically without consent.
The text-to-speech quality is actually very solid, and that part satisfies me, even though there arenβt that many different voices to choose from. However, the extension is currently unusable because it completely screws up video players on many sites (YouTube, Twitch, etc.) - it causes stuttering, video resetting to a random second, and drops frame rate. It doesnβt all happen at the same time, but it does very often. Iβm 100% sure TTS Reader is the culprit because I updated everything first (drivers, windows, browser) and then disabled extensions one by one while testing videos. Turns out TTS Reader was the problem. Because of that, and because it wasted a ridiculous amount of my time, Iβm giving it 1 star. Now, I am happy to change the rate if they'd fixed it, but for now it's a terrible extension.
scammers, expensive and crapy software, not worthy 30 usd a month? get out!
does not work on Brave linux
Cut me off after using it for a while. I would like to purchase a premium account, but there's no way to do so as far as I can tell! Update: I was informed below that there's a way to purchase a premium version, but I'm unable to see how. I found a payment system, but no real information once it was clicked, and no way to actually pay for anything. Second Update: For some reason, it won't read the line: "Previously, you examined operators like less than (<) or greater than (>) and explored how they can be used in filtering numeric and date and time data types. " Also, I see no mention of a trial anywhere.
The reader works great, and the voice sounds natural, but there is a short daily use limit and no way to upgrade so it is basically useless.
I recently installed this extension. I wanted to have it read aloud news articles from Yahoo News (yahoo.com/news), but it doesn't seem to work at all. When I click on the icon in the tool bar, the "control panel" doesn't show up at the bottom of the webage for me to click the play button.
