this is just an ad you can install the developer will no doubt respond with "pls bro just pay me omg", to which I have this to say: get cancer.
you have to pay them to not pay youtube. less than useless.
Breaks the UI, always resets the volume to 100%. At this stage the extension is unusable.
Was great at the start, now more and more videos have ads that "can't be skipped". I think it won't be long before this extension is defunct sadly..
Nobody wants to pay for an adblocker.
Added a mandatory paywall. No better than Youtube at that point.
mandatory paywall AND you have to give them your email, not worth it
added a mandatory paywall
ask money
So from a free script to a PAID extension? Really? Plus the need for an account... Instant uninstall, I don't care if I can request free access..
absolutely doesnt work.
Doesn't really make sense to block Youtube ads when the extension constantly has ads that blocks webpages. Uninstalled and forgotten
Absolutely silly to promote your product as "free forever" to being paid. With zero guarantee that it will work forever. Google is constantly updating to squash adblockers and while it's great this one still works for now there's no way to ensure it always will. Sure, it's only $2 but it's honestly the principle.. something so many people seem to lack these days. Sure, go ahead and claim you need compensation.. you aren't wrong but you never should have promoted yourself as being for the people if you were just going to be a sellout if optional donations weren't enough to satisfy you.
lmao making it paid for features that other free extensions have is insane
I have been using the TemperMonkey version of GoodTube, claiming it (as in GoodTube in general) would always remain free, and now you have to sign up for a Trial with payment after 7 days? Really now? Oh, you can still use the TemperMonkey one, it just won't be updated anymore. Not just that, but the extension broke the player itself. I can't click anywhere in the video, nor can't I use my arrow keys (Yes, I have re-installed the extension and yes, I have restarted my browser AND PC). So no, at this point I can't recommend this.
Let's be honest here: people are using this extension to avoid paying for ad-free, but now they have to pay or you're gonna show ads. It's tone deaf at the very least, but "lifetime" means the unknowable lifetime of the extension, which could shut down at any moment, or you could just add new fees later on. I'm out.
From "Free Forever" to "New version available, paid only" great lol. Dev saw that people were using his stuff and instead of being happy with his work being appreciated by his users he just sees a chance for a payday. Optional patreon? Paid option for those who want to support you? No. Give me money.
You lied when you said it would be free forever. At this point, I'd rather buy YT's premium, since at least then I'm not rewarding your dishonesty. I do not care what your reasons for making this change are, it's still going back on your word.
was free and now we have to pay ??? bruh
I started using this, cuz it was free, but now they cost, tho the amount is less but they still cost. yup that's it.
Pivoting to a paid model from a free user script with only 3 weeks notice is wild... No thanks.. and a one week free trial then $2 for "lifetime" access?? big no thanks..
"GoodTube is now an official browser extension!!" "Support for this version of GoodTube will end Jan 1st, 2026" *goes to Chrome Store to download* "Start your 7 day free trial. Don't worry, it only costs $2 for life-time access after the free trail ends." *uninstalls*
