not working
With enough open tabs even with a powerful computer, it'll make the computer keep lagging. Without many open tabs, you don't really need this extension
as others state, unusable. hard locks up the browser when installed. have to forcefully delete the extension to regain control of the browser. use taba watchdog instead, zero performance issues with that.
Unusable. I have around 240 tabs open across multiple windows, and this extension freezes my browser for 20+ seconds whenever I try to do basically anything. Restarting Chrome results in random tabs being closed by this extension because it thinks they're duplicates for some reason, when they aren't.
*****USER BEWARE***** Unusable unless you don't need to use it. Your RAM usage will increase until full, drop down, then repeat, over & over with this extension enabled. In a system with over 200 Chrome Tabs Chrome was completely unusable, had to go into the Chrome `C:\Users\<YOURUSERNAME>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions folder & delete the recently created folder to get into Chrome. On another system with only 30 Tabs I was able to scroll task manager but there'd be multiple minute pauses between when you scroll & when you see it scroll on the screen. It completely filled the 8GB of RAM on this system, then would drop back to only 1.5GB used, then fill up, over & over with no other programs running & only 30 tabs open.
Slows the new tabs to between 15 and 30 secs to open, unfortunately that makes it unusable for me. I like it other wise, but simply cant use due to the tab opening issue.
With lots of Tabs (150+) the browser come to a crawl when using this extension. Don't recommend until a fix for lots of tabs is introduced.
I've been using this for a while, and it's been great (although I've always had it in passive mode), however, over the last couple of weeks I've noticed Chrome being seriously laggy and, by a process of elimination, discovered Clutter Free was causing it so, unfortunately, for now, I can't recommend it.
Does what it says, but given that it just gave me a popup to checkout another extension they have developed that I have no interest in, on top of chrome indicating this extension is not following best practices, I no longer trust this extension and cannot recommend it.
I have been enjoying this extension, until just now when it popped up a system notification of another extension by the same author. This is unacceptable. Websites need permission to send notifications, but browser extensions don't. If this developer is willing to do that to advertise to me, what else are they going to put into this extension in the future?
Does not work
Consumes 20 to 80 percent of CPU resources
Recently this extension no longer works with my opera developer browser.74.0.3904.0 Windows 10 64-bit.
Was great. But now, it started to freeze chrome.
Poor performance. Took 15 secs between clicking its icon In chrome and for a window to pop upI this is due to the number of tabs I usually have open. I had 185. don't use if your super producitivity sort of person with many tabs open.
THIS EXTENSION HAS ADVERTISEMENTS. I received a desktop notification from google chrome, generated by this extension, telling me to download "AutoConvert Select" have had this extension for a few weeks, was recommended by a friend. deleted it as soon as i got that notification. (no option to disable ads in the settings)
It worked quite well in cost of little bit extensive CPU and memory load when I end up with so many windows and tabs. I have the chrome startup option sets to "Continue where you left off" (last session) and I never had problem with this. But a few days ago this extension starts totally hang up Chrome during startup (with many tabs and windows from last session otherwise it starts normally) so the Chrome never runs to usable state. On browser start-up all browser windows from last session starts open one by one with some cached content, but within a while it starts opening just empty windows. GUI of all browser windows is frozen since then and many windows are just totally white, others has tabs, toolbar and address bar but the canvas of the window is empty, just background color of the theme and only a few of windows has partially loaded content in active tab. Chrome extensively load CPU and main Chrome process eats around 6 GiB RAM, but it is not reacting to any user input (except if I click on other than active tab, the text on corresponded tile on taskbar is changed according to tab name, but it does nothing in browser window itself) and there are no open sockets in the main Chrome process. I have no other option than to kill Chrome then. When I remove the session files, start Chrome up, turn the extension off, exit Chrome, return the session files back and start Chrome, then Chrome starts up normally and works fine. But if I then turn the extension on, Chrome totally freeze. So I have to kill Chrome. I found out, that if I starts Chrome after that again it starts up normally but the extension is off - so Chrome hung up so fast that it even didn't write change, the turning on of the extension, to the configuration file. I tried to remove the extension and install it again from the Google Store, but the result is the same.
Settings options isn't available in kiwi browser there's a blank page only
This app is doing more harm than good. Because when you open a copy of a tab, it is removed from the group. And you need to drag it to the group every time over and over and over again.
Used to work. No longer does in Chrome 79 on Linux as of 2020-01-25, possibly earlier. Fails to identify any duplicates.
Worked for about 2 days then stopped. No clue as to why but it says there are no duplicates. I was using this for app development and debugging but now it's useless. Lots of other people reporting the same issue. Was using the latest version as of 11/28/2018. Will look for a working alternative.
Instantly got a desktop popup upon installing and immediately uninstalled this extension.
Im giving this one star because a chrome extension wanting me to sign up for a paid subscription is absolutely and utterly ridiculous. If it had asked me to donate like $5 for all features forever I would not had minded but a FREAKING SUBSCRIPTION for this??? Ya Right.
MUST have option to ignore hash and queries in paths, othterwise USELESS
Older version used to close any duplicate tabs automatically but now with the method of moving the tabs, it's nearly useless.
popup donate window frequently
So. Buggy.
failed to prevent duplicates on 25+ tabs
The notifications begging for money are super annoying, and you can't disable them.
Today this extensions add js-script on every site with ads. But script with js bug and crush every site
Did not understand how to activate the automatic tab-closing. Bottons on the bottom (in Settings) is muted.
Unfortunately, this extension no longer works as well as it used to. It used to be the best in its category, but now it has several issues. For example, the extension often fails to open, and I have to delete and reinstall it repeatedly just to get it to work. I've had to do this multiple times over the past few months.
Earlier, it used to work flawlessly. Lately, it is pathetic - system freezes but still it is not preventing the duplicate tabs.
Works great but the plugin makes the browser extremely slow, opening new tabs take 3 seconds.
It was working fine, but recently I noticed high CPU usage by Chrome, after disabling this extension the CPU usage returned to normal.
It was working great. Unfortunately, freezes browser with new patch 8/11/2024
Surely there should be an option to block individual addresses not just a total domain blackout. These examples are auto opened as second tabs whenever I open the main site : https://www.amazon.co.uk/?tag=snxgb5-21 https://tesco.pxf.io Domain block doesn't just block duplicates, it blocks all other pages from that domain.
I was using this with hundreds of tabs open and was working flawlessly. However, something changed recently that made chrome extremely slow opening a new tab when this ext is enabled. Only option was to uninstall it.
It was fine extension when it closed duplicate tabs automatically. Unfortunately now in settings this option is marked "Hard limit—Block new tabs when limit is reached. (not yet ready)".
Floating window refuses to work no matter what which cripples the app.
Used to be a great extension. Over the last month or so, however, its behavior has become erratic and inconsistent. It only actively closes duplicates sometimes, and it is unclear what logic it is using to decide when to act or not. For example: I just duplicated a window of 10 identical tabs -- the extension identified and closed one of them, but left the others open. When opening the extension sidebar, I can see that it recognizes the other 9 tabs as duplicates, but isn't doing anything about them. And yes, I confirmed that the extension is running in "active" mode, as evidenced by the ONE duplicate it did automatically close. And this is not an issue of some timestamp or other weird string being in the page URLs, because as I noted, the sidebar IS identifying them as dups. I used to love this extension. I want to love it again, so I hope this is sorted out soon.
Worked for years, now no longer closes duplicate tabs
Having a lot of errors. Can't open options page, hangs forever. Not closing duplicates and can't see the list of them. Number on extension icon slowly rises, does not match number of tabs visible on another extension icon.
Closing duplicated tab and focusing on original tab doesn't work correctly when those 2 tabs are in different windows!
It works, BUT it can't handle 1000+ of tabs. Chrome froze for about 4 minutes after install. I managed to open the duplicate tabs window and close a few tabs but it took a lot of time to update the list. Overall nice UI. And maybe it works better with less tabs.
Kills tabs open somewhere in the browser just because I open the same page again and want to create a different account. Now I have to search where the tab vanished. Also after a quick check there is no easily recognizable option to disable this nonsense. Will deinstall now.
It doesn't do what it says it will. I primarily got this extension to work with React development so that when a dev server is restarted, the browser will simply go to the currently open tab. It doesn't work (or give the option) if you want to blacklist a whole location (e.g. localhost: 3000). Additionally the extension prevents me from opening a new tab on my browser, although that could be due to my use of Momentum (which is good) as the default new tab. Also the little pop out tab manager is largely unnecessary and is made worse by its UI. Definitely needs some more work before it's useful.
It ran fine for a while, but now it's an absolute resource hog when it removes duplicate tabs. Spikes my CPU and RAM usage up to 100% every time it's in action which nearly kills my PC, and I'm running an i7 CPU with 16GB of RAM. I have to remove the extension for now as it's causing my browser too much grief. Will try again down the road in case these issues are resolved.
