the worst customer support service I have ever dealt with, had an urgent situation, was nervous like hell, they promise to respond in 1 business days, well, guess what, don't wait for them to reply, and not even "we're sorry", rude, unprofessional, ugly and the worst ever, I would have rated minus million stars if I could.
you have to give your data just to try the extension
Do not use it, after 14 days, they will ask you to subscribe. If you don't, the tool becomes unusable.
Why do I need to "sign up" to have an autocomplete feature work in Chrome? This should be just tied to the browser (or Google account if logged in to Chrome and tracking across computers).
needs login. i dont want to trace.
Can't try it out in free version, abysmal idiot way of doing things
Imagine being so greedy you cut off your free model after building a large free userbase
Itโs no longer working in Intercom. Is this a bug or a system issue? Iโm considering unsubscribing.
Spent so much time creating shortcuts for it then be fully paid. As the other review mentioned use BLAZE instead, leave this to ROT!!
This tool became Completely paid after 6 months of usage so it's disappointing
I LOVE Magical, and it's saved me so much time BUT lately it has been experiencing issues on my chrome extension, and not working even though i pay for the monthly subscription. It's been experiencing issues with repairing and allowing the extension to populate anything on my browser
Was a handy extension for repetitive tasks. Slowly, functions that were free and limitless, became limited and paid-only. Now there is straight up no free version of Magical. Use Blaze instead. Leave Magical to rot.
it crashes your computer when you download it first. but even after i don't understand how to get it working to form fill
This was a very useful tool that I've used occasionally over the years to auto-populate repetitive text and scripts, but they've recently discontinued their free plan, and the cost of the paid plan is not even close to justifiable. Yet another greedy company.
Completely useless. I have a Microsoft Form and this joke gives the message Hmmm... no fields found. But I know very well that this is a form with fields because I fill them manually. They are not magicians, they are clowns.
They are banking on the high amount of positive reviews they had from when the product was free, to get people to pay for it after that was revoked. I'm just going to copy all of my stuff to another program. Either start with it paid or not at all
Absolutely disgusting. The app has had several evolutions (in my opinion pejorative and invasive) until suddenly it has been paid without any warning and at absurd prices. No daily action is free. EVERYTHING COMPLETELY PAID. I abandon and will speak very badly about this extension to my work colleagues. One star is too much.
Not impressed there is now 0/0 Daily text expansions and they are now making us pay (even though they are still advertising on here as 'free'. Was great before that and recommended it a lot. Not anymore. Bye Magical.
I've used this extension since it was all free. I now use the paid version and I'm about to quit. So glitchy. I logged back out and it won't let me log back in. So glitchy and response time from a human on their website is like a day. For someone that uses this so frequently, that is just unacceptable to lose access for a day when I pay for this product. Been trying to log in for at least an hour with no luck.
The app turned useless with a new zero use limit for text expanisons.
Moving into Text Blaze Extension, much more snippet template for free, and more smoother to use. Thanks to Magical AI, if you not greedy as today, I definitely won't find a more advanced, free, and smooth Text Blaze Extension than yours.
Zero stars if I could. This extension used to be called Auto Text Expander For Google Chrome. I don't know if VC got involved, but they changed the name to Magical. Obviously a Silicon Valley, tongue-in-cheek ironic name, because it is not a magical product. They took a very simple free tool that did exactly what the users needed and made a hard turn into monetization and useless AI-hype. I'm just going to use AutoHotKey for now and then build my own text expander extension for Chrome to offer what Auto Text Expander used to. Abandon this enshittified extension.
I've used this tool for several years and it worked great, until today. I have over a hundred templates that I can no longer use at all without subscribing. No notice at all that this was going to happen. This used to be free, with extra features on the paid plan, but that option no longer exist. I would have even paid a fee to export my templates, but that option isn't available either. I am moving to another tool today, even if I have to manually copy and paste each template. RIP to something that used to be so efficient and helpful.
Dear PM: Increase your value instead of gating the main feature that brings people in. Here's 5 ideas: - Do an agent to source data from the current page - Improve your web scraper, make it as good as Bardeen's - Allow to create shortcuts from Slack - Allow to activate other automations from within // - Allow to integrate with N8N, Zapier, Make, Relay, etc... so people can pull and send data from the extension BUT INNOVATE, don't just suck at it and then add a price to something as simple as //shortcut.
Without warning, removed all free access. It used to be unlimited access and then it was shortened to just 20 actions a day, then, out of the blue, I have 0/0 action unless I pay $6 a month???? Nope! Not doing that! I'm moving on.
Upset my work the past few days because they removed the feature I came for on the free plan. Gave 1 business day of notice. Gave a 20% coupon that was valid for 1 day. I never even saw the email and it doesn't look legit either. I just wanted a text expander. I'll have to pick an alternative, which has created more work. Text Blaze looks decent.
Free plan is gone, switching to something else. Loved Magical, but not worth the cost for text expansion.
Not worth paying for, there's free alternatives.
They charge now. 1-star. I'm switching to Text Blaze.
It was great when it worked but they've now fiddled with it requiring payment for using it without any free automations. It's all paid now. Very greedy.
Totally unusable. I can't export my templates into a simple text file without having to sign up.
Terrible usability, doesn't even work half the time, nothing "magical" about it. I uninstalled this and ended up using theQuickFill which is superior in every way.
No more free plan find alternatives like Text Blaze ๐
Free plan is removed, earlier we could use it for 20 expansions but now this doesn't work anymore. Time to say bye.
The free plan is going away, hurting individual people using it like me. What a shame.
I was unable to access the product as well by log-in with my google account on an anonymous browser.
I was unable to access the product as it was impossible to get past the 'get to know you' page.
Won't let me get past the Get to know you part, I hit continue and just takes me right back to Get to know you.
Admin panel is terrible. Adding users to enterprise never works correctly. Support transfers you back and forth between departments and is unable to provide detailed answers to questions.
โ ๏ธ Since today (or maybe yesterday), this extension interferes with my online banking login โ validation codes no longer match. Could be a buggy update or even a sign of malware. Use with caution!
Caused CSRF errors with my provider's SSO.
Magical has been a mediocre extension. I've used it for years because it sometimes has been a helpful way to keep shortcuts for emoji. Usually macOS can handle the text to emoji replacement for me, but there are some websites that break it, so Magical would fill in when that happened. However, today Magical broke the SSO process provided by my employer, UMich. Whenever I tried to sign in, I would get CSRF errors. Through the process of elimination, I determined Magical is causing this error. I've confirmed it using another Chrome profile which also had Magical installed. I'm uninstalling magical from all my Chrome profiles IMMEDIATELY.
It is usable only one time per unique page, but afterwards it is completely useless because you cannot edit and remove labels that you or extension added by itself to be scraped. You cannot set what labels you want to scrape only, you cannot edit or delete them. Basically you start exporting duplicate and bad data to google sheet because there is no way to properly edit labels.
Could be a very powerful tool that I was very excited to incorporate. But the Ui is extremely buggy and borderline unusable
Don't waste your time on Magical. It says all your templates are saved to your account so you can access them from any device by logging in with your email - not true at all. It says you can change your email and transfer your account if needed - nah, not possible. It says you can export and import templates freely - not true either, the feature is there but won't work half the time. The Support is non-existent, the extention is unusable.
My review in 18 dic 2023, 2 stars "it was a great extension until the recent updates where it limits the number of template actions on the free plan, they restricted the free plan so much, it is a shame that they want to push users to subscribe" Now in 2025 i gave it 1 star since they limited even more the free plan, i am going to uninstall it since it is no useful at all. I will replace it for Rainclip, a desktop app that works everywhere, so it is much better
Used to love this extension before all the pop-ups and it cutting me off at 20 uses per day. There are tons of other text expanders out there, I'll be switching to a new one.
sorry, you annoyed me so much, I just donยดt care anymore - before I could use it. Listen to your developers...
Need to be free to use and also benefits for there productivity
Used it daily for 3 years, but now it wants me to pay to use it more than 20 times a day. No thank you.
