Congratulations, you've turned my MacBook into a hand warmer. Version 4.0.4 has a runaway service worker that spins at 70%+ CPU non-stop — even with nothing open. Energy impact hit 2,055. Battery went from a full day to 3 hours. Laptop ran hot for 2 weeks before I figured out it was THIS. Fix: remove extension. MacBook immediately stopped trying to heat my room. It's been 17 days since the broken update. 4 million users affected. Zero response from Meta. Truly impressive that a trillion-dollar company's debugging tool is itself the bug. 1 star because the Chrome Web Store won't let me file a lawsuit instead.
Reporting the same issue as other people, I've looked for over 3 days to find out it was this extension that caused my hot laptop and high battery drain!
This is the cause of high CPU usage in Chrome, which makes your computer overheat. You'll want to uninstall this extension.
This application is extremely poorly optimized. I strongly do not recommend using it. As soon as it runs, it immediately causes a significant CPU load and slows down the browser. A tool that is supposed to help developers should not negatively affect system performance like this. Overall, a very disappointing and unreliable extension.
This is a trillion dollar company and they make an app that took approximately 70% of my CPU usage, made my computer overheat for days and took me 1 hour of research to find the problem. Very bad job Meta, why update the previous Chrome extension app that worked well to introduce a product that 1) asks you to login (unnecessary, does not push towards transparency and openness of the internet, annoying) and 2) is not even properly troubleshooted to avoid damaging your user's hardware. giving it 1 star because I can't give 0 I honestly feel the users affected by this should get compensation from the damage caused to our devices.
Mid March 2026 version makes the device use a lot of CPU and thus increasing temperatures and shorten battery life. Reported on both macOS and Windows. Just by disabling the extension, the temperatures start to drop and the fans slow down.
It's confirmed to use a vast amount of CPU cycles. Avoid at all costs
Version 4.0.4 uses 20% of CPU while not being logged into Meta, please fix this major issue !
Consume a lot of CPU suddently. I disabled it and my battery is safe again.
Suddenly its using massive amounts of CPU and overheating my laptop. Specifically this extension's service worker chrome-extension://fdgfkebogiimcoedlicjlajpkdmockpc/background.iife.js process was using all available CPU in a single thread. Disabling the extension immediately fixed the issue. Reenabled it? back to 100% CPU usage on that background process.
I have been having a memory issue on my Mac... After uninstalling ONLY this extension the issue went away.
My mac started overheating and using significant energy even on idle, took me a while to find the source of the problem. It was this extension in chrome – the energy impact went from 100-150 to 2000 and CPU load from 5% on one core to 60% on 2 cores with NO TABS OPEN except for the "new tab". Disabling the extention immediately dropped energy impact to 0.5 on idle (from freaking 2000.0) and CPU load for chrome dropped to sub 0 as well. This is beyond malitious and I hope this review will save some people from doing long term harm to their devices.
Latest version is useless
Very bad update, the previous version so far better. Please restore the old version.
Thought it was just me...no longer works
Last update broke it
Stopped working after the latest update...
Very bad update, not useful at all and the previous version so far better than new update. Please restore the old version or revise the new update.
Please return to the old version. The new version is not working good.
HORRIBLE update forcing side panel use and click through just to see the events and data. This was extremely useful in its previous form with the simple dropdown (and even better when it used to show the pixel's name). Whoever redesigned it obviously never used the tool for creating and testing events.
works so great that it requires you to login to facebook in order for you to do some developer work. funny thing is I test incognito always so I cannot test this because incognito my fb session does not exist. Something you would expect from Meta's QA team.
Update made it completely useless, I don't have (and don't want) access to the Meta side for the sites I manage, I just need to know that the pixel fired...
It stopped working after the update. It's become awful!!!
I don't get it. The extension was fine. Why the hassle of log in?
New version sucks. Should be no need to log into FB to use an extension. Return the old version.
very bad
Please return to the old version. The new version is not working good.
why did you change somthing that worked perfect to this?
4.0 version is bad updates.
4.0 version is very bad updates. Previous one is better
Login to Meta is mandatory now. Awful decision, it's almost useless now, want to find any alternative. I bet every changes was made for additional tracking users in Chrome.
it's not work after the update
Mandatory login for the new version of the extension is complete nonsense and an absolute pain. Old extension was better.
After the latest update, Meta Pixel Helper requires login. Clicking “Log in” opens Facebook in a new tab, but the extension stays logged out, causing a login loop. The extension console also shows a CORS error when sending logs to the Graph API. The issue occurs on all websites and makes the extension unusable.
it's not good after the update
Since the update, you can't use this tool without being logged in. Our Meta Business accounts cannot be used either. So, our agency won't be using the previously very helpful Meta Pixel Helper any longer.
doesnt work after the update, will be uninstalling.
Now requires a login. Not using anymore.
After update cannot view the events without loggin in, which is insanely stupid, since I work on multiple accounts in my company for tag implementation and do not have access to a single ad account (since I do not launch ads). Extension has become useless, so have to resort to checking network requests manually.
after update it is a peace of ch
Why would you destroy a good working extension with this new buggy version? Just change the CSS. I would rather check network requests directly.
Mandatory login - is the most stupid decision ever made. Removed.
Old one was better than new.
Why would you start requiring people to login in order to use the Helper?
Fuck Meta for making the login MANDATORY when it never was needed before.
Does not work anymore.
Forces users to login in order to check if pixel code fired properly. Whoever changed this should be sacked.
old is gold
New features no one asked for, previous version did everything perfectly, and now its just sluggish with a login screen? Why? Is this some ai vibe coded thing where you asked "make it look professional"?
It now requires login to use. Ridiculous!!
