Just keep getting an error - "invalid API key"

Couldn't get this to work at all in Brave browser. I set my API key, which it didn't accept at first until I gave it unrestricted access, then when I tried to use the play button, the options pop up. Tried different voices/models - nothing. It says to press ctrl+h to play highlighted text, but ctrl+h is the shortcut to open history. Highlighting the text & right clicking on it also does nothing. This extension is also quite misleading, it is not created by Eleven Labs, it just uses their system to read text on the screen. So I'm giving an unrestricted Eleven Labs API key with tons of credits on it to some random person? No thanks. Use ReadAloud instead.

It would be great if at some point they fixed the Invalid API key bug that seems to have no work-arounds

invalid API key???? how when its copy and paste as per your apps instruction. Also I have only enabled 'Text to Speech' as that's what I need it for the web.

There is a problem that I cannot use when I put the IP key. It gives me that the AIP key is invalid and I am creating the AIP key for elevenlabs and I am sure that it is correct and give all the permissions but it does not work.

Use piper, or other.... want something free... use the elevenlabs reader app on mobile (it doesn't use your API key...) this i don't see the value in the app i am giving it a 1 star because you didn't figure out an option for free tts....

I tried this extension as I am a big fan of ElevenLabs' automated voices. For my use case this extension is completely unviable. As I have dyslexia I rely on screen readers to understand the text I'm reading. The pricing of this solution seems to be aimed at content creators producing videos and other exported assets. It costs $99 for 10 hours of audio - so this would cost me more than $1000 a month - hence my 1 star review. The pricing model for this extension needs to be lower than general pricing which is aimed at exports. If you adjust your pricing for this extension, please let me know I will revise my rating. Extension not working, no play button showing, shortcut (ctrl+h) not working. The website is also not every helpful with errors.

Dosen't respond. I select models and voices but nothing change... Only default voice works no controls on the panel wors.

Sometimes audio playback won't work at all. When that happens, you have to restarting your browser. The little button next to selected text is really nice. But if you start playing the voice, there's no way to stop it without restarting your browser. The fact that I have to restart my entire browser multiple times to use it is a serious offense. 2 stars! You asked for a positive review, but this app is half baked.

Edit extension to help with setting up api key.

For people having the API Key issue - you need to give access to the following when creating/editing your API Key: Endpoints: Text to Speech - Access Voices - Read Administration: User - Read From there you can either 1. paste the API Key itself or 2. In https://elevenlabs.io/app/developers/api-keys, you can click the 3 dots in the right-most column of your API Key and click 'Copy Key ID', and paste this instead. Overall these issues and lack of documentation lead me to dock the rating points, but overall it's not bad. I think there could also be other options for non-eleven labs APIs.

I like the idea but it has a very low token allowance - its a pay to play system.

I would love to try this app, but it doesn't look like it works with Arc - it just won't save the ElevenLabs API key. Any chance this can be looked at?

Was something I used consistently with claude.ai, unfortunately it stopped working on the site. Hope it can fixed. Appreciate the hard work. Otherwise a great extension.

not bad, please allow to change the key shortcut.. especially since its a windows based and non mac-friendly

For some reason, it doesn't work on certain sites. For example, when I try to get it to read any section of this article (https://darioamodei.com/machines-of-loving-grace), the play button just spins forever. Also, the built-in keyboard shortcut to get it to read selected text is 'Ctrl-h', which is ALSO the History shortcut in Chrome. Why would they choose a shortcut that is already in use for the very browser this extension is made for? Poorly planned, and buggy.
