The Military Macaw Emerald Flight over Water

Captured in a dynamic, mid-flight sweep just above a tranquil body of water, this large parrot is most likely a Military Macaw (Ara militaris), or a similar green-dominant species of Ara. The birds most striking features are the large patches of vibrant, deep scarlet red visible on the forehead and upper back, creating a fiery contrast with the overwhelming emerald green of its body and broad wings. The flight feathers show bright hints of blue and possibly red, while the undersides of the wings flash yellow during the powerful wingbeats. The sheer span of the wings and the birds focused trajectory over the jungle-lined water emphasize its role as a magnificent aerialist, traversing the dense Neotropical forests of Central and South America.
