Description

This Chrome extension blockes new tabs from specified websites. This helps against pop-up ads that open in a new tab. It is possible to specifiy which websites are allowed to open new tabs and which not. Tips: - to block all new tabs, add "" (nothing) to the "URL Beginnings" list - you can install this Chrome extension on Android with the Kiwi Browser GitHub: https://github.com/conrim/newtab-blocker

It actually works! Thought I'd be met with fat disappointment but it does actually work. Just make sure to remove https and type what the search bar shows when you're on the site. (or have both) Works great for preventing free whatever sites from opening inappropriate content or malware Update: Stops working sometimes, just need to turn it off and on then reload Update 2: Turns out I was wrong, it doesn't work at all the site I use just sometimes decides to stop bombarding me with the tabs.

Seems like a decent app, but currently I cannot give this a good rating due to a bug that causes all tabs to be closed if the blocked tab is the active tab when reopening chrome using "On Startup" > "Continue where you left off" and "Restore browsing session".

Not working for me. I tried adding "" which didn't work. Manually added about a dozen sites that had opened new tabs, then went back to the page previously generated and clicked a link only for a new tab for a previously added site to open. If it's not the extension that's the problem it needs an idiot proof guide to configure.

Complex. Adding "" (nothing) doesn't do anything for me. Besides, the purpose of blocking pop-up ads is to block them BEFORE they are engaged. If this extension does work to block automatically all new tabs, then the developer needs to provide detailed instructions which include images/media.

Doesn't work on websites with embedded youtube videos. If we press the youtube logo at the end of video playback it will still open the main youtube page.

Seems to work, but lacks very important feature to handle specific URL not only by "beginnings", but by domain/subdomain, or better yet by a filter with wildcard symbols. Currently, I can't setup it for my purpose, only empty string "" blocks my ads, but it also blocks new tabs on legitimate sites. Thanks to the open source, one could tweak it more or less easily. Also it blocks new windows, which are apparently not tabs, and this is unexpected behaviour, imho - needs more control/settings over this.
