To get rid of Google splash screen, install extension: SHOW APPS IN NEW TAB TO REMOVE CHROME THEMES: At the top right of chrome, click the three dots and then Settings. Under "APPEARANCE" click Reset to default. You'll see the classic Google Chrome theme again. Or, simply install ANOTHER theme of your preference over the one you don't wish to keep.
