YouTube Popout Player

trash. it just opens a mini tab and doesnt stay above other tabs

Needs an update for the new Youtube UI since it's now giving errors and not playing videos

Bummed this doesn't seem to work anymore. I'm running into an error code 15 which other reviewers seem to be getting as well.

No longer works since round about the start of October, which is very sad because I liked this one because it wasn't just a Picture-in-Picture, I could actually still do things like change the playback and such. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

practically useless. Since u enabled popup to do something that covers the entire screen and u need a video to watch while doing it, but this app needs focus at all times, so basically the popup goes behind if you do other things that covers the entire screen, making the pop up useless. i can simply make a new window and open youtube in it, it will do the same trick. Pretty stupid extension to have honestly.

what's the reason for this extension when you can't have it always on top... also there is no setting to make it on top... thanks for nothing

Opens up a new window

Not good , it open new browser window , its look old like window 7

It simply opens the video in a new full screen window and it doesn't even maintain the play position. This is not a real picture in picture experience.

I used it some time before, it this it was picture in picture, now its popup and not in picture but in background when i change tabs.

Not a popout player. Just launches a new window that only contains the player. Cannot overlay windows. You can only place it next to other Windows just like before.

Literally useless, it dosen't stay on top outside chrome. Don't download it just a waste of time.

why did they build if it get in background after shifting another tab useless

Usually pop outs are so you can browse other stuff or game whiles watching a video, but the video doesn't stay on top of the screen. In other words this extension doesn't do what its meant to do. However thanks to one of the reviews i found there's a solution to this without the need of these badly executed extensions. Right clicking twice on the video you're watching, and click "picture in picture" to have to stay on top of your screen no matter what. Hope this helps.

Doesn't have always on top

Your site says that only if the video is blocked from embedding by the creator you would get the not available-error. Any video on watch later doesn't work, even if the video would otherwise work just fine. This is like 99% of how I use youtube, add videos to my watch later and then watch them from there, so this extension is useles.

Does not work

This extension only opens the video in a new window. I was looking more for something as great as the inbuilt opera window popout for any sort of video player (not only youtube - worked for pretty much any player like twitch, mixer, youtube...). The window that the extensions opens, still has borders which is quite anoying and bulky as it takes up precious space. Additionally, when shift click and dragging to resize, the video doesn't keep it's parameters and therefore creates black bars either on top & bottom or the sides. There is no buttons overlay, as of for e.g. close popout and open original video and continue playing sort of button like in the opera popout. I was also quite unsatisfied as it is not always on top, and there is no easy way to toggle this. 1/5 for me as it's quite useless.

App does not work. The Ctrl Up arrow shortcut only pops up the extension settings. There is no pop out feature at ALL> Piece of garbage app

it does technically work but its kind of useless as you cant actually resize it so it just covers most of your screen anyway

for some reason this was activating youtube's anti adblocker system. might just be me. also, you can right click a video twice and use a built in 'picture in picture' system that actually stays pinned to the top

The idea is good, IF the video is only open by this extension, not double. Search the whole setting, no found set for that.

It work's just not in a good way Im trying to do a tutorial and when I click the application the popout goes behind it

It works, the video pops out into its own window, but if it can't stay on top what exactly is it any use for?

the whole point of a pop out is for it to stay on top of other programs. this doesnt.

Does what it ways, but it lacks the option to make the pop-out window stay on top of other windows, which I presume is the reason most people would use this extension...

Could you please add the possibility to stay on top of all windows? It now kind of destroys the experience.

It does what it says, beautifully. But it should always be on the top of others, we need it to be pop-out its because we want to browsing other site/page while watching the video.

Works. But any time you close ANY Chrome tab, the pop out player closes as well.

It's an okay extension. It would be better if the window would stay on top. If you wanna use this ext. you can use an application like TurboTop to keep the window on top. Something I did notice while using that is neat is the fact the ext. remembers the size and location of the window after going into fullscreen mode.

Advantage: Icon is so tidy. Disadvantage: (1) Icon is slightly bigger than the other icons that are in youtube player originally. (2) There's an address bar in the popout window which makes it bigger.
