Description

Free and unlimited password manager to keep your login credentials safe and manage them directly in your browser. Get the password manager created by the former scientists who met at CERN behind Proton Mail, the world’s largest encrypted email provider. Proton Pass is open-source, end-to-end encrypted, and protected by Swiss privacy laws. Pass offers more than other free password managers and has no ads or data collection. You can use it for free forever on all your devices to create and store unlimited passwords, autofill logins, generate 2FA codes, create email aliases, secure your notes, and more. * Protect your logins and their metadata with battle-tested end-to-end encryption While many other password managers only encrypt your password, Proton Pass uses end-to-end encryption on all your stored login details (including your username, the website address, and more). * Audit Pass’s open-source code Like all other Proton services, Pass is open source and built on the principle of trust through transparency. As scientists, we know that transparency and peer review lead to better security. All Proton Pass apps are open source, meaning anyone can verify our security claims for themselves. * How can Proton Pass be free forever? We offer Pass for free because everyone deserves online privacy and security. This is possible thanks to our supportive community on paid plans. If you would like to support our work and get access to premium features, consider upgrading your plan. * Protect more than just your passwords. Join over 100 million people who have signed up for Proton’s privacy ecosystem, which includes Proton Mail, Proton Drive, Proton Calendar, Proton VPN, and more. Take back control of your privacy online with our encrypted email, calendar, file storage, and VPN. With Proton Pass, you can: - Store and auto-sync unlimited logins on unlimited devices: You can create, store, and manage your credentials from anywhere with our browser extension and apps for Android and iPhone. - Sign in faster with Proton Pass autofill: You no longer need to copy and paste your username and password. Easily and securely log in with Proton Pass autofill technology. - Avoid weak passwords: With our built-in secure password generator, you can easily generate strong, unique, and random passwords based on the security requirements for every website you sign up to. - Safely store encrypted notes: You can save private notes in Pass and access them on all your devices. - Create unique email addresses with hide-my-email aliases: Proton Pass helps you hide your personal email address with email aliases. Keep spam out of your inbox, avoid being tracked everywhere, and protect yourself from data breaches. - Make 2FA easy with our built-in authenticator: With Pass’s integrated 2FA authenticator, using 2FA is finally fast and convenient. Easily add a 2FA code for any website and use it when you log in. - Easily organize and share your sensitive data with vaults (paid feature): Manage your logins, secure notes, and email aliases with vaults. In the next version of Pass, you’ll be able to share vaults with your family, friends, or colleagues. - Quick offline access to your login data: Access your stored passwords and notes in Pass from wherever you are, even when you don’t have internet connection. - Secure your Pass account with additional security measures: Protect all your data with another layer of protection, either with TOTP or U2F/FIDO2 security keys. I'm tired of having the paid version and getting annoying pop ups in the worst moments possible.... they are intrusive, they create a bad user experience... stop. And yes, I wrote this cause the review pop up got in my way

I can't figure out how to use this!! I stupidly made an alias for a shopping site and now I can't figure out how to disable the alias. You'd think that clicking "Disable Alias" would do the trick. Nope!! I got a message saying that my ACTUAL e-mail would be sent to the shopping site requesting to unsubscribe. HUH?? So I tried deleting the alias in the extension. But the message I got said that "the alias would still continue to forward emails while it's in the trash." HUH?? So then I tried to find the trash and delete the alias from the trash. There is no trash!!! What a hot mess!! It's almost as disappointingly useless as Simple Login, which constantly tells me I can't make anymore logins because I haven't paid for the service, even though I **have** paid for it--a ton of money apparently just thrown away. Proton has become such a dumpster fire. Nothing works, nothing makes sense, instructions are gibberish, and they keep taking my money.

Very user unfriendly.

This is the worst password manager I've ever seen. The email alias is cool. But it lacks extremely basic features that every other manager has. It's horrible at recognizing login fields. And they added a really frustrating "leave us a review popup" that will move the "copy email/password" buttons down when it pops up a split second after you open the menu. And the button doesn't even take you to this page, it takes you to the proton vpn extension page.

It started out okay a few weeks ago when I began using it. It isn't as easy and responsive as others I've used, but since I bought into the whole Proton ecosystem, I went with it. However, as of today, the Chrome extension no longer works. It no longer automatically pops up to autofill on saved sites, and when I click the icon in my extensions bar, it brings up a black box (looks like it never finished loading). I've removed and reinstalled it, and it's still happening.

Proton Password Manager was extraordinarily difficult to install. I didn't know how to follow the instructions. If what I have done leaves it unworkable I will have to have to uninstall it.

Doesn't yet let me autocomplete credit card details, but constantly pops up requests to change to/from dark mode or rate the addin. Far too much nagging for this extension.

doesn't work well, instructions for all Proton apps are very complex. After spending lots of time to install and set up finally I go to a website and proton pass does not work, I have to use my passoword file to retrieve the password manually. I think I will unistall Proton Pass

Proton Pass is "Protected" by a simple six digit code only. You put in the 6 digit, and your complete password collection is open for viewing and access. OK, after three error inputs, you are locked out and need the master password to unlock. But if the one who tries is lucky, good night security. In my opinion, THIS IS NOT SECURE AT ALL, I consider it even as dangerous! To mention: the option to set up an extra password on top of the 6 digit is not working reliably, just random. Why not implement the option of setting up vaults with extra strong layer of security, e.g. for bank account and passwords that need extra protection? P.S.: Using payed version of Proton pass plus!

This just popped up an ad when I was using it. No matter how good the rest of the extension is, showing ads in a service I already pay for is unjustifiable.

Works 90% of the time. But if you know anything about pass holders you know that this 10% is unacceptable

I loved the idea of replacing LastPass with Proton Pass, but I had to disable the extension because it stopped me from being able to enter text manually in a username/password field on a particular web site.

It keeps disconnecting and asking for my password. What do I have to think if the component that holds all my password keeps disconnecting me and asking me to insert the password over and over again? Is it secure? I don't know.

Terrible interface. I have been using Proton Pass with my entire Proton Package for a little over a year. It is absolutely useless! Currently I am trying to do a simple set up of a new account, and Proton pass, despite being an extension in my browser doesn't recognize the new website, so I need to go into the extension to set it up myself and even then, it doesn't fill it in automatically. It is seriously flawed! And Proton Pass doesnt' have support so you are essentially out of luck and if you go to their website, the first thing you see in big bold letters is how to sign up to get their package. I already HAVE their package. Why don't they separate those people who are users from those who are trying to sign up!!!??? Seriously messed up.

The service is pretty good, but still a little immature. There is a lot of polish needed. The service would realistically get 4 starts, but the fact that it puts up a "rete us" add in the password manager repeatedly is super annoying. It seems to pop in just as I'm about to click to copy something, which causes the field to move around and i copy the wrong field. Update 2/2026 - came back to give it another 1 star rating for popping up a 'rate us' banner..... come on

It stopped working in Vivaldi 7.3.3635.14 (Stable channel) stable (64-bit). A re-installation didn't change anything. It still does work in Chrome.

Needs A LOT of work. More sites than i can count the form is not recognised. Login forms are simple to identify, roboform has been doing it since 2006/7, Bitwarden has been doing it since... a long time. Whats up with your devs Proton, they unable to complete their task as you're left with a half working product? Many login forms the PP extension DOES DETECT have to have double/triple refresh to have the login options appear. I use, Chrome, Brave, Firefox, same across all. Shame as this IS way better than Bitwarden, responsive. It just does not work reliably. Unbelievable. And the owners of Proton want people to subscribe? Fix your products..

Proton Pass was sweet for the first few weeks (i had issues with last pass being a ressource hog) but using it now for a while and having my passwords mostly imported from last pass .. there are tons of things which dont properly work and very often i am forced to go back to lastpass cause Proton either imported the wrong stuff, old stuff or nothing related at all. the password filling of Proton is not awesome as well ... First impression was awesome after using it a while it turns into a nightmare

False advertising. During this morning's Proton server outage, offline access to your credentials did not work at all, with or without the PIN lock. This seriously affected my ability to do my job. Inexcusable.

Nah. I am moving to Mullvad, Tuta, etc. Proton has given up IP info to the French government, so what's to stop this from continuing? The CEO is also a trump supporter, and that's enough for me to not support the org.

Keeps logging out automatically. Have to re-install extension, clear cookies to re connect the account. It's a total mess. The UI is a little messy. Little size of the pop-up, large buttons, waste of space & too many clicks needed for everything. Edit: No, it's a new browser profile with no other extensions.

Doesn't recognize password or login fields in most websites, can't import from a CSV, SimpleLogin integration is weird and doesn't work as I had hoped, so needs lot of work to be able to replace the likes of 1Password or others

Unauthorized charges to my account, didn't honour money back guarantee, charged twice the advertised price for an add-on service that I didn't agree to buy. Pro VPN stopped working after a month when I requested a refund, they didn't give the refund though. I had to do a chargeback, and then they my blocked my account, so can't access my free account now. They want me to pay access fees to get the passwords and emails in my account that I had for years on the free plan. Brilliant apps tho

Autofill doesn't work well. Bitwarden is much more stable, with the command 'Cmd+Shift+L' to fill the login fields very fast.

I have used most of the browser based password managers in my time, and this is almost the worst. It rarely suggests to add logins, occasionally will not display the popup to fill in passwords (its primary job?), is difficult to navigate, and most tasks take 1 to a few more steps to complete than competing products. Its free though, so I digress. By the way, I've been an Enterprise Java software engineer with a background in IT security (CISSP) for almost 25 years, so its not like this is my first time using a browser plugin. Security, on the other hand, appears to be great, and in some cases, excessively secure for the average user--which is a good quality to have in a PW manager, I guess.

This extension comes with only a dark theme, which I find uncomfortable to read even on my regular screens, and impossible to read when projecting my desktop (which I frequently do). I would have loved to use Proton Pass and pay for PP Plus or even Unlimited if only the theme was not so uncomfortable to read.

A year later, still not ready for prime time. This still lacks many of the basic features found in other password managers. I'm a big fan of Proton and wanted so badly to like Proton Pass, but even after using it for almost a year, since it first was released, it still just is not ready. It very often doesn't identify login fields on a lot of sites. So many that I got tired of continuing to report them, and never seeing them fixed. It frequently still misses picking up login/password info for new accounts. The workaround they tell you to do is go back into the generated password history, copy the password, and manually create a new entry. That is a terrible workflow. It almost never manages to catch and update if I manually change a password. It doesn't handle credit card numbers the way other managers do. Yes, you can save a credit card number in the vault. But you can't auto-fill any of them. You have to manually copy them. Maximum password length is still limited to 64 characters - why? It makes no sense. Something focused on security should not have such an arbitrary limit. It still doesn't have offline access. So you can't store any passwords that you use for local device access, because you need to be online. This thing has been "release" status for almost a year, and it still can't hold a candle to any of the other password managers. And Proton is notoriously slow at fixing anything or implementing new features. It is going to take years before this is ready for daily use.
