It it useful but also has incredibly HORRID loading time. i spend AT LEAST 20 mins everytime i need to boot it up. debug logs never works. it drove me to tears over and over again, i despise the fact that i paid for it and has to use it.
Though it did kind of work for a while, it now just became completeely unusable, and does no longer work at all. And even when it did work, it did not support in-text citation formatting in any form. Honestly, dissapponting.
The software is sufficiently buggy as to be unusable. One example, https://forum.paperpile.com/t/vanishing-insert-citation-menu/10785, makes it impossible to add citations from paperpile to a Google doc. This is bizarre, since that's one of the core functionalities of the software. I suggest not purchasing.
works great, but they tempt you in with a 30 day free trial, and what they don't tell you is if you use that up and want to keep writing your paper you have to pay for a whole year's subscription! I feel tricked :-(
$120 / year
Won't authorize, just as well considering the terrible privacy policy.
Started having some "Whoops โ something went wrong while formatting your document" problems and wasted my one day's work.
Not functional. None of the buttons work on the extension. Disappointing as the Paperpile reference manager system is excellent.
It was good and useful until it broke. I spend significant time trying to fogure out why the app does nto communicate with word anymore, and wasnt' able to fix. Now I need to transfer everythign to a different software, or finish references by hand. Very unnoying.
Could not access the Paperpile this weekend.
Mine has stopped working - keeps telling me that I need to reload the page, I click on this, it reloads then still won't let me do anything. As soon as I click on something in Paperpile, the message reappears flickering.
The browser extension is good. However, the Paperpile PDF viewer often misses clicks when I try to highlight a piece of text. I have to try several times before it registers my click. The Android app needs a lot of work. Annotations are often not saved to the device or sync to the cloud. Triggering either seems absolutely random and is frustrating.
This extension works great - it's simple and straightforward. Unless you use multiple gmail accounts. Then it's a huge pain, because PaperPile will give you an authentication error whenever you try to format your references until you log off from all of your accounts and log in to only the account that you have PaperPile through. A little dialog asking for confirmation or a password would be nice.
Looks promising, but not yet for academics, especially due to poor support for BibTeX. BibTeX keys not shown by default. Overwrites BibTeX keys on auto-update. Cannot choose which fields to export in BibTeX citation (e.g., Location).
