your app doesnot work properly .It hangs a lot and when you click on the words it doesnot show the translation.I cancled my subscription and I emailed several times ,but there is no response .You mentioned that you can refund your money within 7 days if you cancle without any reason,but deliberately you are not replying to my emails that 7 days pass and you dont have to refund the money .Such a shame .

Around August 30, 2025, Youtube has broken the Language Learning Extension, the translations are fine, but when the extension is activated, Youtube shifts the left-half of the window away to the left, off the screen, and the right half occupies the left side, and the right half is black. The 1 Star is Youtube, the app is 5 Stars.

Constant bugs and constant malfunctioning. Works properly fifty percent of the time, or less. I haven't been able to find any customer service contact information either.

How do I enable Active Tab Access?

This extension has been charging me the 25th of each month since March 25, 2024 under the name "APPFORLANUAGE.COM MUCHEN". I do not EVER remember granting this extension any permission to withdraw money from my account and request immediately cancellation and refund for all charges. I have no emails from them notifying me of the charges, nor any notification of a start date to the charges. I request immediate attention to this matter. Thank you.

this extension requires you to pay for some options, and there is not a word about it, in this extension description. what a lame.

the app is good, it has some bugs though but it’s generally perfect. However, I paid for monthly subscription, and on the day the 1st month had finished the app decided that I would renew on a yearly subscription and withdrew fees of a whole year. That is totally unaccepted and dishonest. I wish to withdraw my payment and cancel the subscription.. One shouldn't be forced on something without a say, even if it was good.

I couldn't do anything without paying. I select free and they still block all features.

Most of the useful features locked behind a paywall. At the very least let people upload subtitles without Premium. Greedy.

As a developer myself it's hard to grasp how somebody can ship such a buggy product. I even bought trial and got no subtitles at the bottom of the video. No matter which language I use.

When the extension is active, the page lags. It takes a solid 10 seconds for a click to register. The subtitles also go away whenever the UI fades away

Seems like it's working for other languages but it's not working for Korean. Even though in Korean drama, they never show you Korean subtitle. And they also made it hard to unsubscribe. Please fix it.

Hovering over word is taking forever to load the translation. pls fix it. i will improve the rating upon update.

these guys hide the cancelation button in dark grey so when you try to find it you can't. Disgusting

No longer works. Automatically reports every video I watch for offensive content until I disabled the plugin.

It was not translating the Japanese language.

Used to be really good but now just says 'loading main subtitle' no matter what.

I can't seem to get it to work on Netflix. I've tried changing the subs to Japanese but it doesn't work and gives me a pop up to start a free trial. I tried to test it with Chinese also and it still doesn't work (it didn't give me a free trial pop up though) and the Netflix tester is already off like it had recommended. I'm disappointed it isn't working. On Youtube it seems to work, keyword is seem, because you can't change how the subtitles are placed. What I mean by this is where it mentioned you can add words and save them for later; it only saves the English words, I know English and want to save the Japanese words. I tried changing it but it won't change spots. I also tried to use the pronunciation, thinking that although it shows English words when I place my curser over it it briefly changes to its Japanese equivalent, but when I click on it it just reads the English word. I am very disapointed

UPDATE: I have now tried to do the free trial by putting my card and in and it STILL isn't working. This is garbage. Test mode on Netflix is disabled. Premium mode paid for. And still doesn't work. Could not recommend this whatsoever. This seems like a great extension but I live in Korea and it just isn't working. No matter what program I select on Netflix, it says the English subtitles are "loading...." but they never actually load. I have done everything I can and it won't work without having to pay. Even then, I don't think I'd pay because it still might not work. I've sent an email so hopefully this can be fixed. :(

Has some annoying quirks with the subtitles and with saving settings. For one, I appreciate that the subtitles don't move when you hover over of the video. A lot of subtitle extensions mess this up. What is very annoying though is that the subtitles do not remember their position so when you refresh, go fullscren, exit fullscreen, etc. the subs have issues adjusting. I've used other extensions before that don't have this issue. The settings also refuse to save for some reason.

Well, it's nice to be able to replay lines easier than the default transcript. Unfortunately, the default player with transcript beside it is better with the issues I have. It very annoyingly freezes the video often and I have to keep clicking play to get it to play. then when I go to pause it/finish for the study session, it curiously continues "skipping" to try and keep playing it, very fast pausing and un-pausing it. All without my interaction. Seems to gut the performance of YouTube in general, as it is fine when I disable it. It also adds these weird very wrong captions in place of the real when ones when there is actual captions with the video.. Only ones this works for is auto-generated...

It says its free but whenever I try to change the subtitles to another language besides english it says to upgrade, misleading. Let me watch ads instead?

I paid for the premium version, but it suddenly stopped letting me use all the premium features I paid for. Please fix :(

worked in the beginning, then the 'upper subs' didn't have any languages, i got some other very inconsistent bugs

Not too bad, but 2 major issues: The lower subtitles keep switching between Engish and Dutch. When a subtitle is saved, often SAVED keeps hanging in the middle of the screen

I am a paying Gold subscriber and I can tell you that this extension has promise but is at best in the beta stage. Subtitles often, I mean at least 50% of the time do not load on youtube. I get a brief notification that subtitles are loading, then nothing..... Second, none of my settings are saved, for example, font size always reverts back to default. Often "O" shortcut does not function (this is a shortcut for showing/hiding mother language subtitles. They should refund our money until this is a functional extension. Very frustrating experience

There should be an option to translate english-english. Which give more synonyms and word meaning in the same language elaborately.

It needs an English dictionary because translated texts ruin the experience. A lot of them are wrong.. Turkish for example

It did not let me use a secondary language without having to pay.. I thought the whole point of this extension was to allow you to display two different languages of subtitle for free (ex: Japanese + English), I instead find out that I have to pay to do this. I like how it asks you to choose your target language, but this is defeated when you have to pay just to display the target language alongside the mother language. Please make this option free as it will attract a lot more customers.

subtitles not loading,popup windows,few options,lot of things premium feature. I hate it from the first time.

I don't know where they're getting their dictionaries from, but the word translations for Portuguese suck. Many translations simply don't make any sense (I'm a native speaker) or are just wrong. Also, I would like to be able to play custom subtitles. When I add custom subs to Netflix, I can only see them if the extension is disabled, and I can't seem to be able to select the custom subtitles in the extension. Language Learning with Netflix has the same problem, which is why I was testing this extension. Also, text is not selectable, which sucks. Also, hiding subtitles is a paid feature. I'd be okay with that if the paid version had many useful extra benefits, but it doesn't. It simply isn't worth it, beign that Language Learning with Netflix exists.

I have completely no idea how to use it. After installing it Netflix just not showing subtitles at all. You really have to describe a short manual at least, not just saying "It's easy to use!". + Took a time and I got that this app uses it's own subtitle system stopping Netflix's original one. I made it work after a couple of tweak in settings menu but I want to leave this review as it is because nothing changed that it is not very comfortable to start.

DON'T - use to learn - CHINESE. The 1st subtitle language is ALWAYS BOLD, which makes the font "WAY TOO DIFFERENT" from how Chinese is often read. Only the 1st subtitle can have phonics. LOL. Thankfully, it was very easy to cancel my free-trial.

Lack of font size adjustment function, the subtitles in Netflix are tiny and look annoying.

I was paying for it but had to cancelled my subscription since it was annoying watching netflix movies and having the first half of the sentence cut off, 40% of the movie or show dialog is cut off. I love the idea but hate that translation is cut off so if the english cc says The heroes return to the light, wish them luck. the appforlanguage substitles for english cc would just appear as "wish them luck" like it randomly cuts out the first part of the sentence 40% of the time. it is so annoying trying to watch foreign movies with dual subtitle cause im normally streaming it to a friend
