you won't get any money from me. lt could have been a great. now it's trash
absolutely loved the extension when it was free. It helped me a lot, as I would never want to close my 40+ YT tabs that "I'll watch some day". I would definitely consider paying if it was a one-time payment or at least the option for that. I don't have a lot of money, but I'd gladly spend some on a lifetime-option. unfortunately, like so many other services, it's now a subscription... I'm disappointed.
Have fun moving all your saved collections somewhere else, because a previously free extension you used for that purpose suddenly became paid.
If i could give less, I would. Loved this app for years. Now you want me to pay??????? no thank you, uninstall this app. free ones are onetab, my new fave, Tabme.
funny to ask for payment after claiming as "legacy" plan
So clunky and slow to the point it's unusable. Trying to restore my tabs freezes Edge. Very hard to rearrange or reorganise my tabs into smaller groups inside Toby due to the slow clunky interface. Will probably take me days to get my tabs back out into Edge now so I can try another extension.
Have used Toby for years, a really worthwhile app. Today a forced upgrade has removed all of my previously saved tabs without any notice. I have spent an hour without success trying to log in. You could have at least warned us in advance to allow us to remove/backup the tabs we had saved. Shame on you Toby, I'd guess I'll just be one of many many disgruntled customers now
Great product, unfortunately, the update forcing me to create an account and introducing the payment option blatantly disregarded me as a user by simply wiping all my collections. On another PC, it offered me the option to download/export my collections before removing my access to them, but I was not able to restore them by re-importing. Very disappointing, your data is not safe with TOBY.
After enjoying several years of seamless usage of this app, I encountered an unexpected issue. Upon creating a new space, a persistent pop-up window appeared, congratulating me on my new space. Unfortunately, this window refused to disappear, forcing me to abandon years' worth of saved links and tabs. It was a frustrating experience. And congratulating me on kiking me out of using it.
Moving links/bookmarks in a collection - Chrome This is HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. HORR-I-BLE!!!!! No matter how I have my Tab View (List, etc), if I try to put them in some kind of order (ie, drag one above/below another), they go ABSOLUTELY wonky and skitter all over the collection, sometimes moving to another collection, sometimes when I am moving them up, they move to the end - etc, ETC. When you go to move a link, all the other links go every which way, some fade out, others disappear, NOTHING makes sense, and you have NO idea where you are trying to drop it in the collection because the whole collection is on its own private acid trip. It is BEYOND ridiculous. What should take 2 seconds takes 10 minutes (no exaggeration) to reorder my collection. What is the deal?!?! More important, what is the point? It makes Toby unusable.
Spyware! Beware it collects all your web data. Also, you can't customize a thing without signing up. AVOID!
Does not work as promised. Frequently does not save all the open tabs in a window when lots of tabs are open but rather only a few of them. Very disappointing because then I cannot easily get those tabs back.
Why do the collections move up or down every time I open them? Why do not they stand still the way I put them in order?
It doesn't have synchronization. Despite being logged in and sync turned on I lost all my bookmarks after mirating to another PC. And developers don't answer emails. I wrote to them twice but didn't get any response. Do not recommend to install this extension
Is this project dead? Please recommend how to move from it to a better one.
Malicious extension. When you click on the "Save Session" button - all 120 tabs are closed. And with all this, this extension has not saved anything. There is only a tab with Toby. And it is empty, there is nothing in it. 120 tabs were lost.
lost all my tabs
I separate extension for no new tab? That's idiotic. Make it an option.
buggy....I lost all my saved pages
I like the style and how it should work, much better than OneTab, which I used previously but let us not forget: You have one job which is to save sessions, and for the last two times when I click Save session it closes all of the tabs, opens Toby page, yet no new collection with the closed tabs appear. This is just not what you want it to do. Luckily I know that you can reopen the tabs, still you have to make sure that it does what it's supposed to
update: 3.19 after I drag tabs to toby mini they get added then they disappear in 2 secs. and they disappeard from the browser too. my rating used to be 4stars when I reported a similar bug a month ago on the same version. what happened man! ------------------- Bug! the 3.19 update, has bug/s. it freezes when i drag a new tab. i had to close and reopen for each tab i drag. I understand it was a chrome store regulations' issue that made you make 2 extensions. keep it up you're doing great!
Why did you mess with a good thing? I have downloaded the mini but it won't come up. This is such a disappointment.
It was good to use this extension but there is a problem on these days. Why I am getting "You have no organizations. Please open toby to create an organization" error message when clicking on the Toby extension? I don't want to use the other extension of Toby, it opens Toby in every new tab.
Unusable. It keeps directing me to the checkout page and won't let me exit. How can you advertise a free plan if users can't access it?
WHY DOESN'T IT WORK ANYMORE? YOU COULD AT LEAST MAKE A POP UP AND TELL US TO MOVE.
This extension looked promising at first but missed the mark after awhile. I wasted a lot of time organizing tabs only to have the extension stop allowing me to drag tabs into anything below my first 10 collections. This happened on my desktop and laptop. I don't feel I had an excessive amount of tabs. There is no mention of any tab limits. Nice concept, poor execution.
I don't know why sometimes it is very slow to open the "toby.html" page, or even sometimes it can't be opened, can you optimize it. This page in my other browser can no longer be opened. This makes me have to find similar extensions to replace it
Toby mini has stopped working on my browser (both edge chromium and chrome). I have to revert back to Toby for Chrome. I've disabled all extensions, but still won't work. I like the minified version better as it doesn't take over the new tab page
BEWARE! It can and will lose all your information, make sure you backup your tabs somewhere else! I really enjoyed this for organizing my tabs and being able to quickly access previous tabs. However, it doesn't save your password or send you a reset email, so you will lose everything you've saved without being able to access it again due to this faulty set up. It's really disappointing because if they had the ability to save your password or let you access your account again if you get logged out, it would absolutely be 5 stars. But now that it's lost everything important I've saved for work and there's no one to contact (or no one that's answering the emails I've found to contact), I feel that this extension isn't safe to use or rely on.
Its pretty much exactly what I was looking for but Im suffering frequent crashes now that Ive added it to chrome. Tabs, and the whole window, have crashed 4 times in the last hour.
Toby is a great tool but, as others have mentioned, there should simply be an option to prevent Toby from appearing on the New Tab page. It is ludicrous for this to require a separate extension.
Had to uninstall - great concept, poor execution. Toby is sluggish as hell these days for me and it also recently became buggy to the point where it started replacing every new tab i had with itself no matter what I did.
why divide into separate app? stupid. why not makw a button???????
This credit limit is completely unusable; it's so disappointing. I'm switching to the Tabone plugin. https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/tabone-modern-tab-manager/ophlaoomkpbpnmdmcmhknfpihcjegkmf
I had a hope for this extension to be my companion but the same as toby for chrome, it slows you down; you can't custom the toby page the way you like, I can't drag the open tabs section so I wait for every pop-up to read the title of the tab, and opening a collection every time is like reloading it, and you need to sign to get any other customization, so I think this extension collect your data while you creat collections.
I like Papaly better, I was hoping I'd be able to define groups of tabs to open close at once but this extension like Chrome itself doesn't handle pinned tabs
It's be great if the extention asks us to change the name when saving session, having to go to the site, click More, then Edit name (literally at the bottom of the list), then Delete the original name and finally type in the title, which are very inconvenient.
Toby is a good extension to manage tabs, but It needs only one improvement : when I click on a link I want it to be removed automatically from the collection, why I have each time to do it manually ? I propose to the team to add this feature as an option to configure so the user can choose between 2 behaviors after clicking on a link : "The link is kept" or "The link is automatically removed".
I used Toby to organize my web walks. While developing a certain theme, I usually add pages to a specific collection. This way my sessions are always chronological with notes serving as a sort of bookmarks. After doing that for a while Toby became unbearably slow. Typing something into the search box, or drag-n-drop rearrangements became unusable. As good as it is conceptually, the solution doesn't scale. I would rate my first moth as clear 5, but now given lags it's useless.
I like Toby Mini better than the normal one but somehow it STILL sometimes sets itself as my new tab. When this happens, I have to disable it, disable Speed Dial 2 (my normal new tab experience), re-enable toby mini, then re-enable Speed Dial 2 for it to take back over.
Sadly, lost all my collections after chrome reboot accidentally!
I need to edit link of a collection item.
I used Toby for 5-6 months before I had to leave and it's for an irregular reason, I think. I just had too many tabs for Toby to handle when it came to organization. I had saved a couple thousand and at that point, Toby was just too sluggish. Now, that's only the issue if you have hundreds or thousands of tabs in collections from sessions over the months. Of course i was trying to clean up many of the collections as I only needed like 10-20% of those tabs, but when I tried using it to organize, delete and curate collections with lots of tabs it became so slow that it's just unbearable to use. I had to switch back to OneTab. I had contacted the dev team several times and was a big fan of Toby, but it just doesn't do well under high pressure. I was using OneTab before Toby then replaced that with Toby, but now am back. See the thing is that Toby has the UI down. No other tab manager has it the way they do. But, they don't have the functionality and speed to match it. When that happens, I'll be back using it. I'm watching their updates hoping for that to happen, but it hasn't yet.
Seems to be very buggy compared to the full version. "Save Session" from the drop down menu closes all your tabs but doesn't create a collection if you have multiple windows opened. Dragging from the list of tabs to a collection can sometimes fail to save in the collection but closes the tab anyway.
I liked this extension, until a few minutes ago when I clicked "Save Session" to save all of my tabs since I wanted to restart my computer. It did the action of closing them all out- which I didn't like but dealt with- but when I opened Toby THEY WERE NOT THERE. It closed them, and my history does not give me the "recently closed x tabs" option and even Tab Suspender's Session Management option could not open those tabs again. If I download something to manage my tabs and it "deletes" them when I am actively trying to save them, it's literally doing the complete opposite of its intended purpose.
I like Toby, but why do I now need a different version to access the same functionality I had before? I like to keep the google new tab page as it only has a few tiles on it. I find Toby too cluttered and ugly to be my opening page and although it is excellent as a tab manager, it is impossible to customise to suit my workflow. I don't necessarily want to open an older page every time I open a new tab. Also, it did not replace old Toby, I now have 2 Toby buttons, and Toby is still launching when I open a new tab. I can't find info on the subject. Do I remove the old version? Will my tabs be saved? Or will I have to start again? some clarity would be nice.
