Description

This Listening.com browser extension is a simple tool for saving any web page, and turning it into audio. You can listen to the audio in the Chrome Extension's "Listen" tab, or you can listen on your Android, iPhone, or tablet device. Clicking the Chrome Extension's icon will pop up the Chrome Extension modal, which allows you to convert the current tab to audio. The converted audios are saved to your Listening.com account. Users who aren't logged in will be taken to a login or registration page.

Doesn't work at all on my school digital books on Red Shelf. For me, worthless.

I just tried it out today. The voice is very natural-sounding and pleasant. It correctly filters out irrelevant information such as references and notes etc. However, at least from what I experienced on the papers that I converted, the produced audio suffers from some issues that made it hard to understand the structure both at the sentence level and at the section level. For instance, it seems to systematically treat the hyphen as a long dash, thus marking a pause in the middle of compound word, which is very annoying as it breaks the flow of the sentence. On the other hand, it does not mark a pause after reading the title of a section, jumping directly to the first sentence of that section. It also fails to make appearant that something is between parentheses, so it's difficult to know what the main point is and what is mere detail. For those reasons unless these issues are addressed, I don't think I will use it past the trial period as the price is rather high
