I never left any review until today. This app really SUCKS! It forced me to install 3 extensions and still can not work! Are you out of your mind ?
USELESS! I dictate my field notes daily when driving between jobs in my work van (I'm a home inspector). The google dictate in my phone is very accurate, even with transcribing technical terms (thermal bridging, truss joists, differential settlement, etc.). I therefore decided to try out dictation on my home computer. Microsoft's built-in dictation in Office 365 is ok, but not nearly as good as Google. I therefore tried this app, since it advertised itself as the Google Dictate app, however this tool's accuracy is ridiculously poor. And it's not the device, I'm using the same headset I use in my van when travelling at over 120 with the windows down.
I gave up after one minute...
It's picking up about half the words in each sentence, and 25% of the words it transcribes are wrong. I could have typed it out faster and with many less errors.
Sucks.
Absolutely useless. After installation doesn't appear at plug-ins list so that is why impossible to delete it. Peace of ***
Didn't work at all on my computer.
Why no Arabic Language ???!!!!
Not helpful. It gets stuck after three or four words in a sentence.
useless, suddenly stops listening then starts again. Doesn't understand basic words.
This was a terrible experience. The dictation doesn't even pick up all of my words, and each time i try to undo something I'm typing, it completely screws up everything that is already down. Words are deleted or scrambled, my changes to the sentences written by this incompetent software are deleted or have the original added on top of it. All in all, don't waste your time. Use Apple's dictation which is at least easier to use, or onboard dictation on whatever computer you are on.
An absolute disaster. BOOOO, I wished i could give it less than 1 star for the time i've lost!!! BOOOO
Didn't work. Initial recognition was good but the text showed as a thin unreadable line and I couldn't save the dictation. I gave up.
Waste of time
it is broken
we cant call it a app even does nothing
What's going on here? I'm use to talking to my voice keyboard in Android. One click of the microphone icon, I speak, it gets it right almost ALL the time. I'm regularly AMAZED!! Why should this be IMPOSSIBLE in Chrome under Win10. I would expect my Gmail "Compose" dialog to have a microphone icon. Easy as that. Instead I can't MAKE it do anything sensible. Whatever Chrome does under Android - DO THAT!!!
This app has some potential but it is too poorly thought out and has too many bugs/shortcomings to be worth investing your time. Perhaps for dictating VERY short pieces of text -- notes and the like -- you might be happy with it. But it's a very long way from being a usable voice recognition dictation app. And as far as I can tell, the author hasn't advanced its development since release and doesn't care about providing support. Even free software needs both.
rubish
This is the worst VR in the business. The morons that wrote this made the mistake of tying it to Google search in a way it tries to anticipate what you want instead of actually listening. Even whey you get frustrated and spell the word, it runs off to what has been searched before! TOTALLY USULESS!!
will not do what you expect it to do poor
No good!
Does not work at all.
Did not accurately dictate my vocal inflection. Poor product. Would not recommend.
crap
I dictated a few kines and then typed complex text that the dictation was not picking up from my voice, then i started to dictate again and all of the manually typed text dissappeared. i am not happy. this is a huge drawback. i use siri on iphone and it allows dictation and manual edits to be saved . Come on guys.
no support for persian (=farsi ) language, while available in Google
Too slow in recognising text
The app was accurate approximately 60% of the time. So, 4 of every 10 words were incorrect. There is also no method to make corrections other than clearing the entire document. Very disappointing.
does not work on my chrome.
it's just a link to their website as I understood.
it doesnt work
I agree with Maria Bowen. Changes will not be saved and there are no voice commands for corrections and it doesn't properly punctuate unless you immediately say, "Comma," after you're done speaking. If you stop to take a breath, the period, comma or question mark will appear a space away from the sentence and the next sentence will not start capitalized. It's a good start but needs more features, even for a free app it's pretty helpless.
This only works with it's own website, giant lie.
At first, I thought this app would be good. However, after using it, I realised it wasn't. I thought this app would be perfect for my needs. First, this app isn't even an app. It just opens a website. Second, the voice synthesizer can't understand a simple word such as "Chemical", even when I pronounce it very clearly. It doesn't say "Chemical". It says "The cuddle". Third and most importantly,I CANNOT EDIT AND CORRECT THE MISSPELLINGS! I'd give this app zero stars if I could.
VERY DISAPPOINTED! It is too eager to match the most common words and phrases. If you want to dictate anything that requires a brain to understand it, it's useless. After endless fiddling with audio levels, hoping to improve its recognition, I uninstalled it. Not good for anything serious.
I am so sorry that i put a lot of hope into this app. You can manually edit the document but the changes can NOT be saved. It also doesn't recognize words sometimes (the word can be said once on the dictation but it doesn't recognize whem it's said again). I have to copy and paste my edits (to whatever application that i am using because it doesn't open on ANY APP) because once you edit and continue dictation, it puts the edited text back into the document. Again, I am so sorry that i put a lot of hope into this app.
Didn't get one word correct in a paragraph. Didn't recognize I even spoke 5 sentences. Thought I had only said 4 words. Horrible.
Does not understand that when I say "comma", I want the punctuation mark "," - not the word "comma". Misunderstands "Chuck" as "truck". I gave up after five minutes of dreadful recognition - farrrrr inferior to Google Translate and Google Android VR. I am a native English speaker with professional speaking experience and am using a headset with a boom mic, specifically designed for this kind of use. It works perfectly in other audio applications. Would love to see it function properly. Please keep up the effort, but put this flawed app on the shelf until it actually is useful.
useless
Does not work on my chrome.
got through the first sentence ok - then kept telling me to make sure a microphone was connected to my PC - which I can guarantee, was the case. Dumb App
You cannot manually edit the document and save the changes. Once you edit , and continue dictation, it puts the edited text back into the document. This app needs ALOT of work.
Why can't it detect the built-in microphone on my iMac?
Did not work for me.
Worthless. Utterly. Tells me there's no access to my microphone -- but there is. Just a typical Google screw-up that'll never be fixed. Google's too big to care. And too big to trust.
Very poor! And I was thinking it will be app not a website
crap
Not very good. There re severl bugs.
types what you say but if you need to delete something and type something new it will never allow you to delete the mistake you made essentially leaving this useless. unless this is corrected i would say it is not feesable to envision using such a program to do any serious dictation
