Google Meet Auto Disable Mic/Cam

This doesn't work at all. Ticked both boxes and every time a new meeting starts is automatically starts both audio and video. Multiple browsers, multiple restarts, multiple times adding and removing extension.

Doesn't work at all, mic is disabled for a few seconds before turning back on and the camera is turned on all the way.

It stopped working for me earlier this week, or perhaps around the time the chat in Meet got updated. Not sure. Sometimes meetings will start with both off, sometimes mic or video will be on, sometimes both will be on. I got so used to starting meetings with opt-in sound and camera that sometimes I am caught in the middle of eating! I hope it can be fixed soon, I really loved this! Should be possible by default but hey, it's google, what do you expect from this multi-trillion dollar company?
